I haven't written for a while. Life got quite complicated for me this year, so I took a break to concentrate on keeping my head above water. Now that things have settled down, and after a much needed summer vacation, I am ready once again to explore the world of five year olds. In retrospect, I... Sign in to see full entry.

100 Days of School
Today was the 100th day of school. It's hard to believe that we have been in school that long already. It seems like only yesterday that I stood outside my classroom door and welcomed my new students to school. Time has flown by and so here we are celebrating our 100th day. All around the school... Henry, the Bear
Around this time of the year, my classroom settles into a lull and a sort of humdrum routine. It seems that after all the excitement of the holidays the kids are physically tired and need a boost to start the second semester. The curriculum becomes a little more intense as we prepare to get the... Sign in to see full entry.

Haiti's Children
When I heard of the earthquake disaster in Haiti, all I could think about was the children.I kept seeing in my mind's eye the faces of thousands of children who will now be wounded not just by the earthquake but by the fact that they find themselves orphans in such a chaotic situation. Three weeks of school have swiftly flown by and I am now helping my students to adjust to and accept the daily routines that come from being part of a kindergarten classroom. One of these daily rituals is the afternoon Rest time. In the past, this wonderful after lunch activity was called Nap time.... Sign in to see full entry.

They're Baaack!
I'm, once again, back in the world of children. School started today and this morning I faced a room full of anxious kindergartners. This is not for the faint-hearted...since a five year old can smell fear better than a German Shepherd. The trick to this first day is to keep things moving and yet to... Sign in to see full entry.

Is It Summer Yet???
Summer is finally here and I closed the door to my classroom. Although I love teaching, I always feel a certain excitement at the thought of having two months of freedom. I have nothing planned this summer, which is very unusual since I love to plan outings and expeditions. This summer, I am just... Sign in to see full entry.

Mothers' day is almost here. Have all of you given this annual celebration some serious consideration? Have you bought a gift or ordered flowers? Have you purchased that perfect card that gives voice to your deepest emotions? Perhaps not, however... In my corner of the world, Mothers' day is a huge... Sign in to see full entry.
