Where Dreams Never Die

I love the gray rolling mists Of dreary foggy mornings, When shifting shapes beckon me To adventures daring and bold. Where old friends and comrades Wait to stand by my side and face whatever dangers lurk there. There might be dragons hiding within, Or other monsters too terrible to describe. There... “Proud,” the sound “ol,” or simply the letter L? What rhymes with “LOL?”

I finally figured out it was short for the phrase “laughing out loud,” And doing so made my non-poetic little brain so very proud. But that same tiny brain cannot come up with a rhyme for “LOL.” I decided “why bother at all?” and gave up with a “what the hell!” Seventeen syllables, anyone? Don’t... Sign in to see full entry.

Notapoet, the non-poet laureate of Blogit, strikes again

Got a dime For a rhyme? A few pennies For some stories? Listen up, Ace, This is your place Where the world’s one and only Time-Tripper is on duty. Sorry, folks. Sometimes the silliness surfaces. I know some of the rhyming is a stretch, and I realize I’m not the only time-tripper extant. A little... Sign in to see full entry.

A pleasant memory of the young notapoet’s romantic days

Roses in comments reminds one of a dozen… and the girl gifted. A little awkward, I think. But that’s fine for a non-poet. What brought it on was the unusual circumstance of all three comments to my last entry containing a rose. I was sent time-tripping to my youthful college days when it took nearly... Both sides, now

Every story has two sides. Reserve judgment… when you know but one. Missing who she was, sad about who she became… bittersweet story. Maudlin memories banished till another day… live the life that is. Just a reminder you’ve had only one side of the story till now. I found much to love about the ex,... Sign in to see full entry.

Reflections on “it takes two to make a marriage work” before my meal break

Two make a marriage, but just one can break the bond… and the other’s heart. You never know when a phrase or two resembling poetry may pop into your mind. I frequently think about the ex this time of year – and at meal times. Birthdays, holidays and anniversaries seem to guide my thoughts that way.... Sign in to see full entry.

Life goes on from generation to generation to generation.

Happy Birthday, Mark, firstborn of my own firstborn… winter leads to spring. This is just a brief reflection on the birthday, coming up Monday, of my first grandson. Because of school, his parents had a bowling party for him at nearby Sanford this morning. Coincidentally, Mark’s birthday falls... Sign in to see full entry.

The pursuit of happiness and the real purpose of life

Young men dream of wealth, fame and expensive trinkets… old men know better; Worthwhile legacies are not measured in dollars… my real legacy: Mark, Amber, and James, and newborn little Tyler… my son does me proud. This is just my take on it. You can agree or disagree, but it’s enough for me. Sign in to see full entry.

Haiku: untraditional content equals personal poetry

Freezin’ my ass off, no sweet home – cold, baby, cold… longing for July. There is no point in continuing to harangue everyone with the obvious fact that I’m not even a middlin’ poet. So, why do I continue to post to this category? 1. It tickles me everytime I even think about the blog title:... Sign in to see full entry.
