Who is that tap, tap, tapping at my door?

The faint knocking sound roused me from my drowsy stupor. I checked my watch. A little after 9:15, and it’s still dark outside. So, it’s still the night of the thirty-first and not too late for someone to be knocking at the door. There! A faint tapping sound again. Or was it gusts of wind blowing...
