Yesterday we were in the garden briefly, after the last few days of snow, deciding where to plant a few phlox. He planted them quite quickly, and we went inside. While I'd been at church he had put in some other plants too. I'd gone for a little walk after church to get some fresh air after being... Sign in to see full entry.
Nice overnight stay in Oxford last week, nice cards this morning, and a nice lunch today for Valentine’s Day.... or it was, until he decided to start talking to the couple nearby. It had started out with an interest in photography. He then went on to ask if the gentleman did painting or drawing, was... Sign in to see full entry.
During today's visit I mentioned that the hairdresser was probably due to see mum again soon... she had agreed to put mum in her book for regular six-week trims. Mum was aghast - surely it hasn't been six weeks? So we went to her diary to see if we could work out when she had last been in. Mum told... Sign in to see full entry.
First let me say thank you to my friends for your kind comments following the loss of my beloved sister. So many people turned out for her funeral two weeks ago that we were genuinely touched. I suppose that, being relatively young - she was 63 - everyone they knew over the course of a 43 year... Sign in to see full entry.

Her husband rang me this morning with the sad news, and of course he was a bit shaken, having only slept three hours. I'm glad she was at home and surrounded with the love of her family, who... It's been a while since I found time (and energy) to write up our adventures in the world of the nursing home - finding the right one (do we ever know until we try it?); settling in the loved one, keeping up their spirits, tackling the financials etc. etc. There is so much to learn, and no manual -... It's been a difficult year - all the work associated with my mother's affairs since she went into hospital and then the nursing home has quite drained me. My loved one often tells me I don't communicate effectively, by which he means I don't think and express myself in the same way he does. We have... Sign in to see full entry.
Bit of a late night last night, picking up my son and his friend from Gatwick. It rained heavily all the way and I followed a Volvo doing 30mph on the A29 for about ten miles (very frustrating for the ten or so motorists behind me as well) but other than that it was easy enough, just a bit long..... A busy day today. Son is still adjusting to a different hemisphere so is more or less out of it. We went for a walk around the village in the late morning, and he wanted to have breakfast, or an early lunch, in the pub by the water. Arriving at 11:20, we found it wasn't open yet. (A bit like France... Sign in to see full entry.
