Somehow

Somehow you can't always get into things they way you want. You see something or maybe you had an experience you want to re-enter and when you try to get there it doesn't go down the same way. You don't feel the feelings you want to feel and you don't enjoy the experience as much. I go through this... Sign in to see full entry.

The Korean War Remembered

There's a news story in MSN news today about a reunion of soldiers who fought in the Korean War in 1950. I was born in 1950 but I do remember reading about this war and that famous TV comedy set in that war and for the life of me I cannot remember the name now. The lead actor won great acclaim from... I Dumped The Fish Sauce

I had this bottle of fish sauce that came all the way from Thailand and was supposed to make such a difference in the cooking of rice. Well, it does, to be honest, but it also has a lot of salt in it. The experts tell you that it contains actual pieces of fish and if you peer at the contents you can... Sign in to see full entry.

World Cup Draw And My Win

Its draw and win today. Don't doubt it. Mexico and South Africa drew in their first World Cup match. 1 goal scored each to each other. And I went into the coin casino across the street from where I work and won. It wasn't a huge amount of money. I left with about twice as much as I went in with.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Looks Of Things - Iran

Its truly surprising how people don't seem to realize that the way something looks can tell a story. Looking at the face of Iran's leader ( I can't spell his name right now but he's the young guy who claims to have won the last election over there ) you can see that something is wrong. In today's... The Measly Twenty Dollars

In these times when people talk about millions of dollars as an every day parlance and the wars we have cost trillions at a time a mere twenty dollars should be nothing to anyone. But it is. In my own case it can mean the difference between getting through the day or not. It can mean a meal or a... Sign in to see full entry.

People I Just Saw

I just saw Anthony ( not his name ). He's an old friend of mine. I used to work for him back in 1972 when I was about 21 years old and he owned a business about four streets down from where I lived in Port of Spain, Trinidad, in the southern Caribbean. I'm not sure but he must be close to 80 years... Sign in to see full entry.

Casino Win

There is this casino downtown Port of Spain with these apparently new slot machines. ( Trinidad casinos are infamous for second - hand slot machines ) Where I found myself this morning. I used two machines. On the first I won about thirty dollars and left it as I thought it wasn't really paying and... Sign in to see full entry.
