Gaslighting someone...not the most flattering light, to be sure

At work, I play mucsic occasionally, at a very low volume so as not to irritate my co-workers with my Cowsills collection etc., when today one asked me if I heard music. I explained the above, and she said "Good, I thought I was hearing things". So I said, in my Charles Boyer (ala Warner Bros... Sign in to see full entry.

I've been asked about my opinion regarding leaving only "SMILIES"

1. A click is a click. 2. Sometimes I read and don't have anything to say. I don't often leave a smilie only, but I have once or twice. 3.When my posts and comments are not replied to at all I feel like I've slammed the hatch on further exchange. At least a bunch of beer stines means I didn't scare... Sign in to see full entry.

I've always favored the variations on the following:

What do you think about the new addition to the Blogit bazaar?

I am of two minds about this. Maybe more. Tempting, but all my good stuff went down the toilet. Ideal Readers, what do you think? What would you post for mo' money? What would you pay for? Who would you pay to read, or skip? (While you're at it, where are my car keys?). Sign in to see full entry.

"I believe that they display such an excess of zeal in a good cause..

... that it may deflect some otherwise supportive individuals from doing likewise". Heard it in passing on the radio from Jimmy Carter's ex-speech writer. Good for him, I think. Sign in to see full entry.

Syntax...important? I have scars to prove it!

The ordering of information and it's incantation/intonation is important, and Roj's Rule here is as follows: "When coordinating the next step in an ongoing action, 1. start out with an attention getter/designator, followed by 2. indication of when to do the next step, then 3. describe the next step.... Another euphemistic rant..."Minor Surgery"

Don't mean to freak anyone out, but surgery is never "minor". "Relatively minor", sure, but "minor"......if it was minor, why use anesthetic and sterile technque?...do you see "do it yourself" kits at Walmart?...how many times a year do you have it done, doctor? Aha! There it is! "Minor surgery" is... Sign in to see full entry.

What to do with a too-long reply...post "Slipperygibbets"!

I also hold a category of speech near to my heart that one might call "slipperygibbets", where one launches into cursing but tries to pull it out at the last/too late second. Sometimes these would become aphorisms where we ususally cursed freely, but through momentary circumstances (i.e., firehouse... Sign in to see full entry.

Flibbertygibbet...a quick one before work.

I am particularly enamored of what I call flibbertygibbet, expostulations which erupt without premeditation and which often are "core samples" reaching down into our deepest psyche. I am hindered here by the fact that they often involve a bit of profanity, scatology, or obscenity I may use in real... Sign in to see full entry.
