Life is too engrossing.

Well, it's official, I am retiring by the end of April, and will be out on famly sick leave twice (at least) during the intervening period. I actually have enough accrued leave to stop going in to work in early February, without sick leave, to glide through to the end of April, but it is not likely... Sign in to see full entry.

Well, this year's about had it.(Slacking off and slipping away).

I have turned a new leaf at work and am trying to do so at home. The old saying about teaching the pig to whistle* applies; after... Sign in to see full entry.

Yes I am probably old enough to be your daddy. As my avatar readily shows. 2. The "new EMS" dates back thirty years and its biggest... Sign in to see full entry.

"End of Tricare" hoax.

http://www.moaablogs.org/battleofthebilge/2009/06/tfl-cbo-emails-resurface/ One of my few good friends sent me an email sent ot him by a friend telling how the Obama White House was going to screw the retired (and, by extension, disabled) veterans. MOAA is a reputable organization, and other sources... Sign in to see full entry.

How seductive. madness.

Constantly tired, deprived of rest and sleep and tranquil dreams, is like clinging to the liferaft at the end of the fifth day. So easy to let go. Linear thought. Logical rigor. Memory on demand, not unbidden. Senses aligned with source, holding the line on entropy. Deadlines (as they whoosh past,... Sign in to see full entry.

Well, Cr@p, here I go again.

Starting to search for occupation as a retired "correctional nurse", volunteer this and that and soon to be retiree. I actually sent a letter to an agency I had nailed a job at two and a half years ago (see posts), but had to turn down at the last week because in the final analysis it just did not... This person advises that he or she is an eager, proactiv e and gung-ho volunteer trying you anticipate and lead an organization she/he is not an offier in. My advice was as follows: Volunteerism: I have been like you, a "hard-charging" vollie going above and beyond. My experience though is that it... Sign in to see full entry.

Maybe it's time to stand down.

The build up and execution of the big CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) exercise yesterday including 500 volunteers from many parts of California, taught me some things about the organizaton and myself. First, in the last five years it has gone from grassroots ad hoc to much more... Sign in to see full entry.
