TRHOTD-The Insanity Continues

When The-Right-Hand-of-The-Devil came into the office in the mornings, first he would unlock his office, then he would get coffee, and then he would call. When he called, I had to leap from my office and go into his to find out what he wanted me to do for the day. Usually, he had files to be found (dug out), letters to dictate, and phone calls to make. Let's start with the leaping. I could not wait in his office for him to get his coffee and come back. I could not get the coffee for him because... Sign in to see full entry.

Right Hand of the Devil

There is no work, or career, or job category, therefore, I am posting this in my regular section of single life, but this is a job story. Once, I worked for a man that will be forever known as The Right Hand of The Devil. I know that when he dies, Satan has a place ready and waiting for him. I will tell you some, and just some, of the things this man did, and said. This man is a real estate broker. I went to work for him not knowing he is crazy and mean. I was supposedly a secretary. What I, and... Sign in to see full entry.

I got the job!

It has been a heck of a week. I got the job that I had such high hopes for. Thus far, it is WONDERFUL. So far, things I love: 1. There is NO time clock. At the old job, there was a time clock and if you clocked in too early, boy was that a big huge deal. If you clocked in late, no prob, b/c that meant they could pay you less. One day, I clocked in ONE MINUTE early, and b/c of how they figured the time, it made it look like I was 15 minutes early. So, the boss lady got mad, b/c "we paid you for... Blessings of the Pantry

I lost my job two weeks ago. I thought some of you might be interested in how I am eating. My last full paycheck from my old job, I went grocery shopping. So, when the blow came, I was in a better position than I might have been otherwise. I am living out of the pantry. Other than that one trip, I have not been back to buy groceries. This is relatively easy since I live alone, and I don’t eat a lot. For example, I made a pasta dish from what I had on hand, and it made enough for me to eat it for... Sign in to see full entry.

Writer's Meeting

I had the most wonderful meeting today. I belong to a local writer's group. We share our WIP and offer feedback and suggestions. We also eat at these meetings. I have a novel that I am sharing a few chapters at a time. I got some useful feedback on what they have read thus far. One member is working on a short story. I think he has a great concept, I look forward to seeing how it evolves. The other two members are working on a graphic novel. It will consist of several different horror stories.... Job Hunt Limbo

Last week I had two great interviews for a job I think I will love. This job sounds interesting with room to grow and learn. I ended the week full of optimism. This week has been somewhat of a downer thus far. It's Thursday and I have yet to receive the call back that I expected on Tuesday. I found out there is 0 dollars on my unemployment card, and my last paycheck was 100 dollars less than I expected it to be. The only silver lining I have found thus far is that I have health insurance through... Sign in to see full entry.

Living Alone

Most of the time, I love living alone. I love the quiet, the peace, the calmness. When I clean something, it stays that way unless I mess it up. I only run the dishwasher once a week. I do laundry only on the weekends, and get it done in a few hours. I never fight about what to watch on TV, listen to on the radio, or whose turn is it on the computer. Every time I cook, it is always my favorite. I go to sleep when I want, and get up only according to my schedule. My time, my life, my interests... Sign in to see full entry.

Bo the shedding machine

Bo is my mixed breed small horse of a dog. He is mostly black-and-tan coonhound, and part mystery. He is a not a long haired dog, thank the heavens. However, a big dog still has a lot of hair and lately, b/c of the heat, that hair is coming off in clouds. Every time I vacuum, and then empty the canister, it looks like I sucked up one of those toy breeds. Well, today, I decided to cut out the middleman--the floor. Instead, I decided to suck the hair right off the dog. I set up the hose... Sign in to see full entry.

Second Interview

So, I was right on time for the second, follow-up interview this morning. Again, it was a wonderful experience. The owners asked intelligent, thoughtful questions and it appeared from their body language that they loved everything I had to say. We talked about the job of course, and their expectations, and my expectations. But we also covered how my past work experience will be a real asset in this job. In this new position, since it is in a field I have not worked in before, I will have to take... Sign in to see full entry.

The interview

The interview was the best job interview I have ever had in my LIFE! The absolute coolest thing is after I walked in, once I told Mary why I was there, she said she had just been thinking about me this morning! She had been debating about calling me to see if I was interested in a job. *picture me doing a back flip of joy* I smiled and told her that was wonderful. We sat down and discussed the job and why I wanted it, and what she wanted in an employee. It was just relaxed and easy and smooth.... Sign in to see full entry.
