When is a Pigeon not a Pigeon?

Ell loves birds, and loves feeding them. We have bird houses in the backyard, and front garden. There are bird feeders hanging from the maples and fat hung up in a net for the Chickadees, not to mention the large bird feeder which she covers in bird seed every morning. She is well known for being a... Sign in to see full entry.

Do you ever worry in case someone calls you by your pen name?

Now and then after retelling a story I’ve heard from an acquaintance I wince the next time I see them. Do they read Blogit? If they do, do they recognize themselves and realise it was me who told the story? Does that make me some type of criminal? Yesterday I heard two stories; one funny and one... I was sitting in church yesterday ruminating about dark matter and the

shape of a donkey's nose This is a musing blog while I get used to typing and writing again It was the second Sunday of advent and also communion. Because Ell was ill, I went by myself. Her excuse for not attending was the fact that her coughing would interfere with the sermon. I couldn’t come up... Sign in to see full entry.

Finally, after 2 weeks of hard graft, Ell has my computer back online

She has been loading, reloading, and deleting programmes seemingly forever. At one point she discovered a Trojan snickering away in the background and viruses which were not to be sneezed at. I found this odd, considering that we have always used Norton anti-virus, and her computer, which is... Sign in to see full entry.

Compassion: Ell Style

As a break from kicking my computer and casting a spell on it, Ell decided to cut Samantha’s nails. This is akin to a high wire artist taking a break by strolling around the roof of the CN tower in Toronto. She didn’t do it all at once, as Samantha wouldn’t sit still long enough to allow it.... When Ell's away the mice will play

This is my third day without a computer and I am hurting badly. It started after the 2 hour visit to the doctor's waiting room and my perusal of all the old magazines only to be told by the Doc that he would like yet another blood test....say around Christmas?? That of course was after the vehicular... Sign in to see full entry.

Yet another embarrassingly moist Canadian discovery

It started last weekend. Sears had a sale. I don’t normally care about sales the way Ell does, in fact I don’t care about sales at all, and if we’d still been in Scotland I wouldn’t have got out of bed but everything in my new country is still fascinating. Take the name Sears; I knew it better when... Sign in to see full entry.

A tree growing out of his foot?

Imagine the scene. The man has cut a notch in the tree to enable it to fall in the correct direction. He then uses his chainsaw to cut the opposite side to the perfect depth. He turns round and lays the chainsaw carefully behind him, steps forward to push the tree over and as he steps forward, the... Sign in to see full entry.

I can sense a subtle change in Ell's attitude

which tells me she is feeling a lot better. Gone are the kisses and the ‘ thank you darling, I don’t know what I would do without you,’ comments. Back are the caustic remarks. Reality is almost back to the MacNab household. Take yesterday for instance; when I’ve been buying the groceries and making... Sign in to see full entry.

What is the Trigger....

....that (which?) causes the switch between despondency and optimism? If it comes to that, what is the trigger that causes the despondency? If I knew the answer to the second question I wouldn’t need the answer to the first question. What I do know is that I don’t know. The person writing this blog... Sign in to see full entry.
