Have you recenly read a few blogs?

I have and am impressed with the very assinine idea of a woman being owned by a man. A man will hunt "me" down an make me his captor. I dare say not. I have my freedom won and will never the captive be caught in the cage of matrimoney and ownership by a man. Oh no, not for me. I prefer my independence and freedom from expectations unreal. Why can't man accept woman as she is instead of making her out to be his captive and owned person. I quote "... and you'll be mine....." is the last thing I... Sign in to see full entry.

Pennies of Time

A penney here and a penney there, Is so much I can not bear to see one. There was once a day back in May in 1945 When I was born and found my Mom And learned that each and every penney counted. For in the 59's one could buy a coke for a nickle and a penney. How things have changed as I groan in pain and push the limit of my bill fold. For seldom is there a pennery to spare For a Coke that is 1.29 at the checkout stand Of the local grocery store. There were times when I would not think twice... Sign in to see full entry.

Tidbits of the day.

My friend calls me occassionally and tells me the recent everything from the Sherman & Denison area. Tonight's not so exciting news is about how a new sstadium needs to be built in the area and that it would be nice if the two cities would share the expense. I'll personally bet that they never share the expense. That is just the nature of their heritage being arch rivals in football. The second piece of news is that she has rescued a baby pitbull dog that is four weeks old. I told her to raise... Sign in to see full entry.

Squandering.

Are we squandering our lives One day at a time Spending our moments Trying for things not meant to be. Are we here for a purpose Or is there no rhyme or reason To our cleaving to the future With not knowledge of the past. Can we overcome the stairsteps And reach up for the stars. Make our marks on heaven and again on earth. How we strive to be successful and be brave enough to take the heat Of those who never write and aren't brave enough to take their own heat. Sure we can. We're writers,... Sign in to see full entry.

Feelings Don't Match?

Have you ever found yourself with a group and as you interacted or just listened determined that your feelings do not match that of the group? This is often the case in situations when the group feelings outnumber yours. This does not mean that you are wrong for feeling the way you feel. It simply means that your sense of right and wrong is not a match for the group. Then too, you must look within if that is the case most of the time. We all grow up in different families with different values in... Sign in to see full entry.

Just Thinking Outloud

As you read this think back to your past, all the way back to your childhood. Do you remember people reading stories to you in early school or during your nursery years of Prince and princess stories. There was always someone plotting to ruin the princess's dreams and trying to muck up her life into adulthood. Funny in a way, there word adult never entered the story. It was simply told from "once upong a time..." there lived a princess in the land of whatever. Some villain would come along,... Sign in to see full entry.

The Freeloader in a Pipe

One hot summer day when my father was off for a couple of weeks on vacation at home, he decided to take some drainage pipes on the north end of the house and turn them into a French drain for one area of the garden that often flooded. He had my brothers and I as dedicated helpers in doing whatever he decided to do. The project was decided and begun that morning on the north side of our house. The area was covered in shade trees so the heat was not so bad to deal with. To help you understand the... Sign in to see full entry.

The Fairie Birl

The Fqirie Girl The fairie girl lived near a pond She used a leaf for her boat She had gold laiden fingers And elves for musicians So that she might dance And play with the other fairies In the land of the very little people. They would sometimes get hot and would beat their wings Then ask the mayflies to make a screen A screen of soft cool air That they might dance to the Moonlit night until morning comes When they had to get out of sight. You'll never know where the fairies live For they are... Sign in to see full entry.

Years Ago with You

There we were years ago standing in one another's presence, Both devoted to the love that tied us together. I loved you dearly, But was caught up in the rules of being a virgin at marriage So rather than tast the sweet delight of love and lust, I refrained from you. Now, a year after you left I graduated, and my love returned tome, Only you were late and the feelings I held for you Had to be quashed on the sands of time, Lost in an eternity of time to haumt,e tjpigj. For here today Alone I... Sign in to see full entry.

Ensnared in a Picture - a story on canvas.

I stood silently looking on as my friend worked meticulously to put together a 1000 piece puzzle picturing two wolves in the moonlight on new fallen snow. These two wolves captured me for a few moments until I gave them names. There was MiKi, male, a handsome gray wolf, giant sized. Then close to him and snuggled at his ear was Miyoka, a large female gray wolfe nipping at his ears in play. It occurred to me that the wolves were captured by the artist in time some time ago. He did an excellent... Sign in to see full entry.

The Talent show!

During the first 3 years I taught I had the job of teaching music, art, and public speaking to grades 3,4,5. In the mornings I taught music to 3rd graders. On Fridays I sometimes had talent day. This gave the kids who took music seriously, an opportunity to sing for the class songs they had heard or made up. Some did ballet, some did insstruments, but it came out well. It gave them an opportunity to show their creativeness. One spring morning the librarians daughter said she had a song to share.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Ghost of Whiterock Railway

It was a gloomy November afternoon and there was one 45 minute class left for the day to go. I was teaching art. The sky grew dark and the kids were beside themselves with the change in weather. They always got hyperexcited when the weather changed. So, during art I told them if they would be very quiet I would tell them a ghost story. At about the same time the sky became even darker and it was just "sucker perfect" for some 12 year olds to have the stuffin' scared out of them. I told them... Sign in to see full entry.

Denard, My protector.

Denard was my student in the 3rd grade. He was a heap of a kid with a basic good heart and a child's view of right and wrong. Denard loved his food. He hated people touching his food or talking about him eating it. He would bargain anything for an extra heap of potatoes off someone elses tray. Well, Deanrd's father knew him well and said for me to keep him in line. Of all the scary insults, I learned he had my birthdate for his own and a streak of mischief a mile wide. One day at the end of... Sign in to see full entry.

Mischievous Teacher

Dear old J. I. Money--obsessive compulsive from the "get-go" about his rules and his school and doing things the Blair way was a difficult man to deal with. He had a tendency for "bitching out" teachers in front of God and everybody for the least little offense to the Blair way of doing things. Dallas ISD had nothing to do with running the school other than hiring the staff and assigning them to the buildings. They were kind enough to give each teacher $50.00 to supply students with papers to... Sign in to see full entry.
