Well, the gay sex having Meth using Reverend confessed...

Ha! Or he might as well have. His claim that he simply had a massage and bought some drugs, but threw them away is even more pitiful than Bill Clinton's contention that he had simply pretended to smoke pot but didn't inhale. The great light of the anti-gay campaign has come out as a ridiculous hypocrite and I love it. Why is it that people who hate themselves always feel the need to take it out on others? I really hope that GAY SEX claim against Evangelical leader is true...

The Reverend Ted Haggard, leader of a powerful evangelical organization that is working nationwide to defeat Gay Marriage legislation, has been accused of paying a middle-aged gay escort for sex. The escort says that Haggard used Art as an alias when they met through the escort's online ad. but that he later saw the Rev. on television and was personally offended as a gay man that someone working against gay marriage would be sneaking around on his family and having gay sex. If true, this will... Sign in to see full entry.

Here's another one on assessment in composition...if anone cares...

Onwards Towards a Post-Modern Understanding of Assessment. Power adheres at the Level of Lexicon. [...] According to Burke, the power to configure reality resides in the terms chosen to describe that reality. The specific words used, that is, direct our observations, making some observations more likely than others and making some nearly impossible. (Lynne, 9) This reading is indeed “Dense” as Dr. Paterson mentioned in one of the emails regarding the presentation covering this 99 pages. After... Sign in to see full entry.

I got a lovely comment on this one...printed at end of text...best ever...

Only Students bleed Meaning, however, can vary according to the stakeholders relationship to the assessment, so that what teachers and students find meaningful will not necessarily translate to administrators or funding agencies. This variation has real consequences for design and implementation of assessment practices and for use of results. ~ Lynne (129) The above quote clearly illustrates the crux of the matter. What Patricia Lynne has done with this book is important, if long winded, but I... Sign in to see full entry.

Really, I don't know why I came back...except I missed you.

I have browsed a bit and now i need to go to bed But here is another really annoying academic post...for those that might have missed them...Peace Y'all... Writing is Taught By Teaching Thinking: A Philosophy of Composition. You can approach the act of writing with nervousness, excitement, hopefulness, or even despair—the sense that you can never completely put on the page what's in your mind and heart. [...] Come to it any way but lightly. Let me say it again: you must not come lightly to the... Sign in to see full entry.

Ezekial 23: And she lusted after the Chaldeans...

Whose members were like those of donkeys adn whose emissions was like that of horses... I have a couple of friends who were raised in a strict, fundamentalist Christian sect up in the Sierras. They have lost their religion as a consequence of moving down the hill and going to college where one is a graduate student and the other a young instructor. Funny thing though, after spending twenty years in the church, they had never really read most of the Bible. I read them the above passage last night... Sign in to see full entry.

“O” Trivializes Evil:

Hugo takes the Oomph out of Iago in this Adaptation and Modernization of the Othello Theme for a Teen Audience. The Movie “O” (2001), directed by Tim Blake Nelson and starring Mekhi Phifer as Odin James 'O', Martin Sheen as Coach Duke Goulding, Josh Hartnett as Hugo Goulding, Julia Stiles as Desi Brable, Andrew Keegan as Michael Casio, and Rain Phoenix as Emily, was a decent movie overall, but “O” would be better if the movie was not advertised as being based on Shakespeare’s “Othello.” The... Had a sitdown with the "Coordinator" for the World Cultures...

graduate group at UC Merced this afternoon and it went well. I am getting more interested in this new UC the more I look into it. This is an interdisciplinary graduate group at a brand spankng new research University. The first New UC School in quite some time, and getting in on the ground floor of such a massive undertaking would be very cool. The first class of freshmen, professors and graduate students started this past September, and it is only about a third built. Plus, the program sounds... Sign in to see full entry.

Here's the next paper from this Literature class...

this one about our poetry circle experience...oh boy, it was actually kind of cool....I just finished the mid-term for that class also. Hope I did OK, unfortunately had a brain cramp on the title of a poem so we'll see...anyway, here goes. Random Poetry, Random People: Searching for Common Threads in the Madness. Love and madness are a common thread in literature and poetry, as we have all had some experience with infatuation, obsession, heartbreak and despair. At least, if you have not... Grad School apps are done...mostly...

Jaime has had Mono, Taylor has Pink-eye, life is crazy and I still don't know why I have not posted in so long. Anyway, I am taking a Intro to Lit. Class because I owed a lower division humanities GE requirement to the university in order for me to graduate on time in May. The first day of class the professor assigned a paper, due the next day at four PM that we got to skip the second day of class to write. First we had to read Superman and Me, by Sherman Alexie -- an American Indian writer (he... Sign in to see full entry.

I must be doing something right...

But it is still never enough... To make up for lost time. Anyway, last night I went to the monthly Modesto poetry SLAM with Alsiha, as usual. Last night I was feeling a little guilty because, as is typical for me, I was doing something besides studying for the two finals I had to take today. I was not even writiing the first draft article for my honors research, which is due tomorrow and still not done. But there were several great new voices, even if one of them was completely sick, a... Sign in to see full entry.

Warning, this one is even longer...On the writing center...

I am meeting with the writing center director today at 12:30 to discuss a conference that she wants me to come to and be on the CSU Stan writing center panel with herself and Alisha...cool... The University Writing Center as a Locus of Social Change: In working as a tutor in the CSU Stanislaus Writing Center these past few Semesters, I have learned much about the ways the university both promotes and restricts social change. I have collected qualitative data as a participant observer in the... Sign in to see full entry.

Here is the shortest of my final papers...it is kind of interesting i think

Classical Theory and World Systems in the Information Age: There is much speculation about this so called Information Age that has enveloped the world in the past few decades. I am interested in how the forerunners of the discipline of sociology might discuss the peculiarities of this new world order. First, for an overview of what specifically I am talking about when I say “Information Age” and “Globalization.” The Information Age really began in 1995, it had been gestating for several decades,... Trying to write a term paper on how the founders of sociology would have...

interpreted the current Information Age and the rush to globalization...Hard going...but this is an interesting reference... The Information Age and the Printing Press: Looking Backward to See Ahead[1], by James Dewar. Also, there is an article on Wired titled We are the Web, by Kevin Kelly which is very interesting, but Wired is offline right now damnit. That is pissing me off. Anyway, I am just stopping by for a minute to vent my spleen...I love you all and hope to have something interesting... Sign in to see full entry.
