ME, MYSELF & I SYNDROME

I believe that most, if not all of us, have mental problems; some major, some minor. Many of us handle their problems as best we can and manage to work through our emotions and channel our anger and disappointment in the direction where they belong and then, some miss the mark. In the work... Sign in to see full entry.

ONLY IN JAMAICA!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been having lots and lots of rain. No sooner than one tropical depression has passed than another one appears on the horizon. Naturally, the roads are wet. With the continuous rains, we now have major pot holes in the mix. I got a cab yesterday and headed to my... Sign in to see full entry.

WHAT A WEEK WE’VE HAD….

I knew there was a reason I don’t particularly like listening to the news. This past week, we’ve been inundated by violent crimes. A peace march was planned for Monday, October 3, 2005 by teachers of two high schools in a volatile area of Kingston. They are fed up with the continuing violence which... Sign in to see full entry.

WE'VE SUNK TO A NEW LOW

I am experiencing mixed feelings as I write this. Yesterday, in a depressed area of Kingston, a house was firebombed. The four occupants of the house, including a 10 year old child died in the blaze. It is said that four men did the deed as an act of reprisal for the killing of one of their gang... Sign in to see full entry.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE?

H ave you ever noticed that there are people who just do not know how to communicate? When they feel they are wronged, they prefer to huff and puff rather than clearing the air by having a civil conversation. This solves nothing, other than to alienate others. This morning, my supervisor called to... Sign in to see full entry.

LIFE GOES ON, IN SPITE OF….

I ’m sure that like myself you know people who manage to convince themselves that they are indispensable. We find them in our homes and on the job. They can also be found in service clubs. While I take pride in the fact that I am a level-headed and dependable person, I have no illusions that the... Sign in to see full entry.

DISTURBING NEWS

A friend of mine told me a few weeks ago on AOL IM that something terrible had happened to her family. I waited around and fretted until she was up to the job of telling me about it. She finally sent me an email on Wednesday, which was heartbreaking to read. Her teenaged daughter was raped. She had... Sign in to see full entry.

IT AIN'T FUNNY BEING CAUGHT WITH YOUR PANTS DOWN!

H ave you ever been in a situation at work, where everybody is too busy watching the work to actually do any work? Too often, there’s a job to be done that can be done by anybody but doesn't get done because everybody’s waiting for someone else to do it. Whether it is changing the toner in the... STOP WASTING TIME ON THE 99%

Y esterday, I wrote about my seeming inability to stay in and enjoy the present for any length of time. While I realize that planning for the future is important, what I do far too often, is indulge in worry, rather than laying plans. I have been trying to quit the habit of worrying and have had... PLEASE, DRAG ME INTO THE PRESENT!

M any times I catch myself thinking about tomorrow, next week, next month. Where will this or that project be at in that time? Will my financial situation be better next year? Will we be able to sell our house and move out of this neighbourhood? These are some of the troubling things I think about.... Sign in to see full entry.
