Set backs

Had some real set backs today. solf a guy a load of books and he tried to cheat me out of the money. we settled for half price, but I could do without it. This had made me even more determinded to press on with something(anything) other than selling books on ebay. It's a real nightmare. The market for selling anything on abay has just about finished. Second hand books are no good to anyone really. More hope with the Green building project. Lost of good stuff with the wooden houses. Steve Sign in to see full entry.

Ebay!

Thank god, I've sold 150 quid's worth of books! I was getting to the stage where I thought it might never happen. Leant my lesson though. Selling in huge amounts like that does not work. You are better off with modest amounts that no one quibles about. But at least we shifted it. One guy bid at the last minute, as no one places a single penny, for 9 days. Getting side tracked with ebay really. As writing is more of a money spinner. I can see a lot of scope for the Green building project. The... Sign in to see full entry.

AOL Radio and Prog rock.

I love listening to AOL’s radio stations. They are pre formed to just run as continuos loops. All the stuff is selected by someone getting commission from the labels, but it works. The Prog rock, heavy and classic rock are my fav’s. I’ve heard things that I thought were dead and gone. Yes, King Crimson, Mike Oldfield, are the main stay. But Renaissance, and Gentle Giant! My record collection, even back in the good old days, would never come close to that. I have a friend who is record mad. His... Sign in to see full entry.

War? What War?

I see (or hear, as the radio is on) that we are coming to an anniversary of the Iraq war. The West certainly can pat itself on the back, for making the world a safer place. But finance has suffered. Commerce has taken a down turn, although it will bounce back. The irony is, that you could have ruled these countries with money anyway, as there was nothing they would not do for the Dollar. I hear some guy is going on trial in Holland for supplying poison gas and bio-weapons to Saddam. Wonder if... Sign in to see full entry.

Dr Who!

Dr Who! Doctor Who is back on the BBC on Saturday. I have always been a big fan. Having read a few of the books, I find the stories are science fiction, right on the edge. Of course I’ve watched the programme since the 1960’s, and can remember Patric Troughon, but not William Hartnell. Bit too fare back in my memory. But when I think back, this was where I got most of my ideas about science fiction, in the first place. And so must have many other writers. I know Douglas Adams worked as a script... Currency conversion

I see on my account, that I've now earned 7.44 Dollars. which in our money is about three pounds fifty. Not a fortune, but the sad truth is, that this is the only money I have ever earned through writing. How sad is that? You can put a load of old books on Ebay and get 20 quid, and never know what was inside. When I first set out on this colourful voyuage of writing, it was through short stories. The correspondance course said, that if I read all the magazines, I might be good enough to send in... Sign in to see full entry.

Money makes the World go round.

Just looked at one of my Fav' sites: Ariala, and picked up on something she was saying. Wwhat are the best ways of becoming rich? Writing sure as hell ain't it! My late step father once said, the biggest companies in the world, were Chemical companies. BASF, Chemi-linzs, bauer, ICI, ect. And the reason for this, the leagal side of it. They make more money sueing each other than selling the products. Patent law is the biggest money spinner, along with copywrite. Did you know ICI stopped the war... Sign in to see full entry.

Writers Markets

Trying to take this blogg a bit more seriouse now. The: "My Life" section was supposed to be a way for me to write down just something. anything just to get me writing something other than copy on Ebay. You loose heart when all you type all day is: Paper back in good condition. However, I've noticed the abscene amounts of money some of these bloggs attract, and think to myself; I could use some of that action. Of course there is little I can do until the novel is finished. But that won't be long... Sign in to see full entry.

The Grind goes on

Just to add a lighter note, the novel is doing well. Very worried about what people will think once it's submitted. The biggest problem, is what if they want such changes to it, I won't know the dam thing myself? Should I go on? Should I just write another? Or just say: stuff it, and carry on? After all, I remember the feedback, from that silly women after Summer Lawns. She had no idea. And I nearly took notice of her! What was it Churchill used to write on the bottom of his reports, as a... Sign in to see full entry.

Just listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2. Notingham Out of control? Yes. Things are too bad there to be tackled in the same way New Labour handles everything else. We need a covernment with courage, that can crack a few eggs to make an omlett. Tony Blair is not that man. He only went into Iraq because Bush told him to. Maybe things have been allowed to get as bad as this, for people to loose their tempers and rise up against it? But why has it got to this sorry state? The police are swamped with...
