Calling Cards

So, is anyone using these? The people who used to pop in at my blogs and leave a rose or a hand or some other smiley seem to have disappeared, but they aren't leaving calling cards either. I've never understood why people got so uptight about the emoticons in the comments. I was glad to know that someone at least dropped by ... and if they distracted from a discussion, I deleted them. So, I guess I'm thinking, what's the point of these calling cards, as no one seems to be using them.
