Big Ten Blues

Tough day for the Big Ten conference. Michigan loses to Notre Dame, The Ohio State University loses to Texas, and Iowa loses to Iowa St. All three of them were ranked in the Top 10. Michigan 3, I believe, OSU 4 and Iowa 8. Guess they were a little overrated, huh? Sign in to see full entry.

Jerry Rice

Well, Jerry Rice, rather reluctantly retired from pro football yesterday. I know that I have had fun with Rice the last couple of years in begging him to retire, but let me say here and now that I have never seen a better receiver than Jerry Rice. There may have been some as good. But no one better.... Sign in to see full entry.

Numbed By the Devastation

I am taking classes to be a football referee this year and last week we had a new member just in from Louisiana. He had some experience as a ref there and was very helpful with any questions that we had. In fact he gave me the website to the Louisiana High School sports website so that I could look... BW Parkway Blues

Back the truck up. It's over boys. The Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles are finished. Any hope of the post season a pipe dream. Has been since the all-star break. Went up to see the Nats play the Cards on Sunday and they were shut out 6-0. This has to be one of the weakest hitting teams in... Sign in to see full entry.

Distant Replay!

The Terrell Owens situation in Philadelphia is nothing new to professional football. In fact, there was a case eerily similar to it in 1971 involving the Dallas Cowboys. Back then, the Cowboys were far from being known as "America's Team". They were better known as the team that just couldn't win... Sign in to see full entry.

Long Live The King!

Football is back! College and pro training camps are open. It is the only sport that matters. All of the rest is noise until September(though I'll write about them if something interesting comes up). But football is KING! And will be for a long, long time. LONG LIVE FOOTBALL! Sign in to see full entry.

Let 'Em In

On the first ballot, no less. I'm tired of all of these writers talking about how they are torn on the subject of whether or not to let the Rafael Palmeiros, Mark McGwires, Sammy Sosas and Barry Bonds' of the world into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot or any ballot. Why change your... Sign in to see full entry.

It Looks Like Raffy did after all

Rafael Palmeiro has just been suspended for steroid use. The same Raffy who vehemontly denied taking steroids in front of Congress a few months ago. DAMN! I like Raffy, but I'm not surprised. Some time back I wrote that the reason that Raffy was traded by the Cubs back in the early '90's was because... Sign in to see full entry.

Some Good, Some Bad

...But all honest opinions from me: Goodbye Lance Armstrong. And good riddance. I've tried the WNBA and MLS, I really have. Just can't get into it. Sorry. The Nats have fallen on hard times. They were doing well until Jim Bowden started mouthing off about all of the trades he needed to make. Caused... Sign in to see full entry.

Stick To TV!

I heard where TV guide rated the 20 or 25 "Most Awesome Sports Moments" of the last 15 years. Number one was Lance Armstrong coming back from cancer and winning the "Tour de France" WHAT? To me an awesome sports moment should be one where you say, "I know where I was when that happened." Does anyboy... Sign in to see full entry.
