Chuck Taylors

I know that they are still around, but Chuck Taylors are only worn as a fashion statement now. I can actually remember playing basketball in them. Real game, full court and everything. No other shoe gripped the floor like a new pair of Chucks. The low tops were called "fishheads" by the kids in our... Sign in to see full entry.

NFL Miniature Helmets

The NFL miniature helmet used to be in grocery stores in bubble gum type machines and could be bought for a dime. You would get a small plastic helmet with the teams logo and a double bar face mask. When I was a kid they were worth keeping, because teams were changing helmets all of the time. The... Sign in to see full entry.

Kickball

The movie "Dodgeball" brought back memories, even though I didn't see it. But what about kickball? Rules very similar to baseball except that you rolled the ball over the plate and kicked it into play. The only other difference was you could throw the ball at someone and hit them to record an out.... Sign in to see full entry.

Evel Knievel

Admit it. If you were a child of the seventies, you had one of those toy Evel Knievel motorcycles with the little crank that you would wind up and send the bike screaming down the driveway or the living room or whatever. And you put ramps on Tonka trucks or whatever for it to jump over. Evel Knievel... Sign in to see full entry.

Wiffle Ball!

We all played it. We all loved it. Every house had it's own field. We had the original retro parks. Hit it over the shrubs for a home run. Or on the roof. If you lived on a farm you could make your own version of the Green Monster by playing next to the barn. Put a chair behind home plate for the... Sign in to see full entry.

Nerf Football

Ah, the old nerf football. Born in the seventies after Bobby Brady's famous quote, "Mom always says, 'Don't play ball in the house'" But with the nerf ball, you could play anywhere. Just don't leave it out in the rain, because it was like a sponge. Personally, I prefered the old K2 football that we... Sign in to see full entry.

Electronic Football

Christmas 1980. I'll never forget it. This was the year that every boy in America was trying to get their hands on a hand held electronic football game. This was the original must have toy and it was legit. No campaigns like "Tickle Me Elmo" or some doll or Pokemon. This game, with one blip for... Sign in to see full entry.

AHH! The old Miller Lite commercials. Remember? Here are my favorites: -"All we need is one pin Rodney." In which Dangerfield replies, "Piece of cake." And proceeds to bounce the ball off of the front pin. -"Must be in the front rooooow!", Bob Uecker of course. -The one where they had the pool... Sign in to see full entry.

We all collected Topps and Fleer baseball and football cards. But what about the three D baseball cards out of the Kellogs cereal boxes. And the Hostess boxes with the three baseball cards on the back that you had to cut out. Remember when Wonder Bread put football cards in each loaf? I still... Sign in to see full entry.

Today, I present to you that all-time classic, electric football. The game with the vibrating board and the little plastic men in the shape of running backs, receivers, blockers and defenders. With a triple-threat QB. I still have my game board. Lost all of my teams when I went to college. Had the... Sign in to see full entry.
