Colour my World

I like earth tones and the colours found in nature. In decorating, I like when the colour of one room flows to the next; when one painted room complements another. That is so not the case in our new house. About twenty-plus years ago I loved the country-look decor and freely used wallpaper and... Sign in to see full entry.

It's moving day!

Yesterday we had freezing temperatures, high winds, pounding hail and some fluffly snowflakes as our movers hauled our loot from our condo and onto their truck. While they worked all the doors had to be kept open and boy oh boy was it cold! Hopi, our puppy stayed curled up in a blanket in his crate... Sign in to see full entry.

“Smile though your heart is breaking...”

The song “Smile” is one of my all time favourite and uplifting, though poignant songs. While I knew that Charlie Chaplin had written the music for it, I just googled the lyrics and found out that it was written in 1954, the year of my birth. That makes me smile! Here are the lyrics: Smile, though... Sign in to see full entry.

“A smile is a curve that sets everything straight"

Standing behind me while I lay prostrate on the massage table, the twenty-something girl ran her fingers lightly over my face. (My daughter had set me up with a facial today as a gift for my birthday.) “Your skin is very soft,” the facial-girl said. “I don't see any real signs of aging other than in... Moving on...

It's time again. Time to move house. In my fifty-something years, (54 tomorrow to be exact) the longest I've ever lived in a house is eight years. It's been seven years and three months in our current abode and I'm not interested in breaking my record! We'd been wavering back and forth about staying... Sign in to see full entry.

Dear Who?

My how those rejections just keep on a-comin'! I've sent queries to many agents, looking for representation for my novel, and I've had a couple of 'requests for more material' over the past year, but at this point they have all rejected my work. Rejection--spurning, refusal, dismissal, elimination.... Sign in to see full entry.

A Writer's Lament

Words. They follow me everywhere. They pile on top of me and leave me gasping for air. They taunt and tease me, challenging me to unscramble them, make some sense of their disarray. Grabbing a few, I throw them down on paper, shift them from one side of the page to the other, slide them back and... Sign in to see full entry.

Chestnuts falling from a chestnut tree...

The air is fresh, crisp, cool, and clear; my favourite time of year. The leaves are just beginning to fade to crimson red and gleaming gold. I love nothing more than to tromp through the woods, surrendering my senses to all that surrounds me. And in my autumnal wanderings, I’ve uncovered the secret... Sign in to see full entry.

Dang! Life is good!

It sure is a lot of fun to hang out with your buddy on a late summer's day. The grass is green, the sky is blue, the air is crisp and life has slowed down just a bit. It really feels like it's about as good as it gets. And you know, maybe it just is! Sign in to see full entry.

For the past few days I've been having fun while hopefully getting fitter. Does anyone have the Nintendo Wii system and the Wii Fit program? (I've heard it's hard to get acquire!) When my kids and their mates came to visit us last year for our annual after-Christmas get together, they brought along... Sign in to see full entry.
