Butter Tart Days

I've been sifting through my files and folders, reading old blog entries and old bits of writing from up to eight years ago. (My PC is ancient!) I was hoping to find development in style, grammar, and subject but I'm not sure they are necessarily there. Hmm? Here is something I submitted to a... Sign in to see full entry.

Ahhhh...what a sensuous moment!

My nimble fingers carefully lift the first piece that I've dislodged from the hard sticky surface hoping, but not counting on, it tearing away easily, but it does! I moan in ecstasy! After days and nights of scraping, of being covered from head to foot in old smelly glue, of rarely removing more... Sign in to see full entry.

Do you like it cozy?

What is your favourite position? When you need a timeout from life do you prefer to do something energetic, like a fast and furious game of tennis or squash, or are you more the curl-up-with-a-hot-chocolate-under-a-warm-blanket type? What do you do when you want to escape for a while? Yesterday... Sign in to see full entry.

It’s crazy! It’s absolutely crazy!

How could it possibly be true? How could six weeks and four days have passed since I wrote anything on blogit? Oh I know now! It’s that life thing! Minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and even years pass by with merely the blink of an eye. Whoa life…slow down! For the past two months we’ve been... Sign in to see full entry.

It’s Clemmie time!

Is there one certain thing that signals the advent of the holidays for you? I’m guessing it might be difficult to hone in on one specific item but for me it happened this morning when I peeled a clementine to have with my cup of tea. As I stood looking out the kitchen window at the many trees... Sign in to see full entry.

Macramé and stenciling!

I’m not a patient person when it comes to tasks; I want to see the results of my labour quickly. I’m not fond of cooking but I do like to bake. Cooking seems fussy to me. There are lots of ingredients and a multitude of components to making a complete meal. Different temperatures have to be set, one... Sign in to see full entry.

Let the demolition party begin!

The other night we had a very nice painter come to our house to give us an estimate on taking down all the wallpaper, of which there is plenty! He figured it would take 80 hours of work and presented us with his estimate of $3400.! If that's not a motivator to do the work ourselves I don't know what... Sign in to see full entry.

"Books in the running brooks..."

I had to google that one. I knew it was Shakespearean but didn't know that it was from 'As You Like It'. ‘Books in the running brooks…’, is etched in stone across a fireplace in a library at the resort here. I love to say it; it rolls off the tongue. I was unpacking books today and arranging them on... Sign in to see full entry.

They make it look so easy!

While we were in Scotland last year the shows that were telecast most on our hotel TV were the home renovation and decorating kind. While I 'm not a daytime TV watcher, on cold, wet and windy days, of which there were many when we lived in Scotland, I'd tune in fairly regularly, almost to the point... Sign in to see full entry.
