Problems with the Word, 'Love'
Part of our difficulty with the last statement of my last post is the use of the word, 'love'. We have so many definitions of it and some many levels and layers of meaning. When I used the term in that sentance, I was pointing to the kind of love that is possessive and self-enhancing. Truth is, that kind of love is based on fear; fear 'that I am not enough', fear 'that I won't get enough'. Thus, when we rise above fear, we also rise above that kind of love. Rising Above Fear and Love
What if I said, "We are controlled by what we fear,and by what we love." I can illustrate: Recall the last fight you had with someone really close to you. Can you put yourself, emotionally, back in the middle of the conflict? If not wait for your next conflict, and become aware of your feelings. Do We Create Our Own Dis/Ease???
Ever been ill or just feeling down and your best friend suggests that maybe its your fault somehow that you are not healthy? The theory is that, we choose all that happens to us (for our learning?). When that has happened to me, I just wanted to scream, "Thanks, that is all I needed to hear right now!" So now in addition to my suffering, I can carry around a burden of guilt about my dis/ease.
