Tick-Born Disease Threatens Cats...........................................

PERSONAL NOTE: Our clinic has diagnosed several of these cases over the last year here in Oklahoma. This is alarming to me since I live in an area with many Bobcats and my cats go outdoors. I have been plagued by ticks this year. The last few years we have seen a late freeze which helped to keep the... Sign in to see full entry.

Cat Haiku (I laughed till I pee'd my pants) courtesy of cutestuf.com

You never feed me. Perhaps I'll sleep on your face. And that will show you. You must scratch me there! Yes, above my tail... Behold! Elevator butt. I need a new toy. Tail of a black dog keeps good time. Pounce! Good dog! Good dog! The rule for today. Touch my tail, I shred your hand. New rule... Sign in to see full entry.

Here's a picture of my cat Banichi - Does anyone recognize the name?

Banichi was a stray I adopted from the clinic back in 1996. He was four months old back then. He gets regular hair cuts because he likes to decorate the house with tufts of yellow hair! Here he is in full glory! Sign in to see full entry.

Cats and Grooming

I must admit, we are not professional groomers. I don't know a lot about the details of grooming and when people call us wanting their long-haired cat to "just have a trim", I tell them "Ma'am, we only have two sizes of clipper blades. Short and shorter!". The doctor hates grooming so it's not... Sign in to see full entry.

The Art of Neutering Your Male Cat...

I am constantly surprised that some men have such a problem with neutering their male cats. Some vehemently so! Neutering is SUCH a simple surgery, relatively inexpensive (compared to spays), and the kitties go home the same day (at least in our practice). I feel better just knowing there is a... Reasons to spay your cat

I know most people will tell you the number one reason to spay your female cat is to help stop the over-population of cats in todays society. Well, that may be the number one reason (and a VERY good reason), but there are other more motivating reasons as well. 1) Female cats go into heat about every... Sign in to see full entry.

Fleas

Yes, I know with winter coming on you are wondering why I'm blogging about fleas, right? Well, what most pet owners don't seem to know (or want to know) is that fleas can and do thrive all year around in the home. What? You say your cat is indoors ALL the time? So you think this means your cat... Sign in to see full entry.

Abcesses in Cats

Hello all, I know I've been MIA lately, but I'm back (at least for awhile). I may not post a lot, but I will try to post more regularly. Do they make a "high fiber" supplement for bloggers? Anyway, back to the subject of this blog...namely CATS. Now, don't get me wrong...I absolutely LOVE my cats,... Sign in to see full entry.

No No...Bad Dog!

A few days ago, a long-time patient named "Mac" was attacked by a neighbor's bird dog. I wasn't there when he was brought in, but I can imagine the grim scene as his chewed up body was rushed before the doctor for emergency care. Everyone goes into adrenaline mode. The body is checked for wounds.... Sign in to see full entry.
