Freaky Tragic News

I have a step-sister I haven't seen in years, but recently we started to e-mail each other. She has three-year-old twins who have medical problems that I happen to know a lot about, and we share information about chemical-free products and nutritional supplements. Well, today her son choked and... Sign in to see full entry.

Some days you skate well, and some days you... well...

I know I've been talking a lot about Olympic figure-skating lately, but this time I'm talking about speed skating. And I'm not talking about Cheek or Ono. I'm talking about ME! I don't know if I've posted this in the new improved Bunny Blog, but about a month ago I joined my husband's inline speed... Sign in to see full entry.

Well, it's official: figure skating sucks

I don't know if it's the new scoring system or mass insanity, but it looks like choreography inspired by the music is no longer a part of figure skating. For the most part you could play any random piece of music and it would fit any given skater's choreography as well or better as the music he... Sign in to see full entry.

Half-pipe good; pairs skating bad

More awesome half-pipe, this time from the women! More bad pairs skating. The Russians who won the gold would never have medaled in previous years, and the two Chinese pairs who won silver and bronze were just stiff and awkward by the standards of the past. I sure hope the singles skaters are still... Sign in to see full entry.

Half-pipe snowboarding is now my favorite Olympic sport!

I'm dying to read more about it, but I'm afraid to go to any sports or Olympic sites right now because they all splash the Olympic results on their homepages before I get to see the events. Otter and I are avoiding all non-NBC-TV-related news media for the duration of the Olympics. Anyway, I loved... Sign in to see full entry.

Olympic pairs are musically impaired, and an invisible bald eagle

I figure that if one subject doesn't interest you, maybe the other will! We were just watching the pairs figure-skating short program, and all but a few presented routines in which the skating had practically nothing to do with the music. It was very weird. There were only three pairs for which the... Sign in to see full entry.

Olympic Disco Medley!

What was up with that? My husband had just finished telling me that so many countries are fed up with us (the US) that there isn't an American representative on the Olympic comittee, when the really cool opening human picture-makers ended and the parade of nations began, accomanpied by: a medley of... Inequality in Jazz Vocals

In the Phoenix area we have a new radio station, KRZS Star 97.5, which plays swing and standards 24/7. What I've noticed is this: All of the female singers of nice voices. All of the male singers sound like gravel. It's not that the male singers are technically bad, but none of them have a melodious... Sign in to see full entry.

The Death Penalty: Hard to squish into an automated phone survey

I like giving my opinion (readers: "No! We never would have guessed!" ) so I'm on all kinds of "call this person and she'll answer your questions" lists. Today I received a three-question poll about the Death Penalty. The first question was: "Are you for or against the death penalty? For or... Sign in to see full entry.

Okay, I lied about wanted my husband to go away

I was just mad at him then. He was very annoying. Tomorrow he's going away overnight, and next week he's going away for two weeks! The Baby Bunny and I have fun while he's gone (long hours shopping, movies on a school night or seeing two in a row on the weekends, bowling....) but I'll still miss... Sign in to see full entry.
