One of my favorite Cable Channels is AMC

There are some really fabulous old movies that are so different, and often more entertaining, than movies made in the recent times of Hollywood. The musicals are particulalry entertaining, as are the relatively simple characters that are merely archetypes of good or evil. The days those were made... Sign in to see full entry.

I miss the "old days"

When new seasons meant that shows played all their new shows before going to reruns. It is maddening to sit down for your favorite show, shortly after a new season starts, and find out you're going to have to watch a rerun. Then, some seemingly random other night, there is a new show, then reruns,... Sign in to see full entry.

Another favorite show of mine is Ebert & Roper

which is on here on Sunday mornings at 10:00. I like it because of the differing opinions, and the more in-depth reviews than are seen on other movie review programs. The clips are good, as are the insights, the behind the scenes tidbits which Ebert and Roper throw out to us from time to time. The... Sign in to see full entry.

"This Just In" on Spike TV

Just watched my first episode of This Just In on Spike TV and it was hilarious, as well as thought provoking in a fun kind of way. The main character is a conservative who found it difficult, in this episode, to adapt to his bar changing from a sports bar to something entirely different. This show... Sign in to see full entry.

Color Television's 50th Anniversary!

An article in this morning's Virginian-Pilot had an interesting feature about the 50th anniversary of color television. My memory is that our family got color television in 1959 to be able to watch Bonanza in color. That was a marvelous show when it came out, and the color was magnificent when you... Television Viewing has Vastly Improved with our ReplayTV . . .

We can now automatically record shows we like, pause live broadcasts, and easily skip commercials on recorded and paused shows. We can also set up or change our recording schedules via the internet if we are traveling. I understand TIVO has pretty much the same capabilities, but we went with... Sign in to see full entry.

News as Entertainment

It is getting harder and harder to separate news, as presented on television, from entertainment or, even worse, from commentary. This includes news on the obvious news channels, FOX, CNN, etc., as well as the network news. Sign in to see full entry.

My favorite shows are missing!

Thanks to the useless ball games being televised. Why not relegate sports to the sports channels so we normal people can follow our shows? Sign in to see full entry.

Babylon 5 DVD Thoughts and opinions:

Having never watched Babylon 5 on television, and having been told what a great show it was, I rented Season 1 Disk 1, and I have watched the first two episodes of the series. It is okay, but not great. I don't know what the fuss was about. I'll finishe this DVD but I do not intend to rent the rest... Sign in to see full entry.

Travelling Television

One of the downsides of travelling is that you don't know what channels to watch to catch your favorite shows, and often the printed channel guides in the hotels are incorrect. Worse yet, is staying in a hotel that does not get the station you want to watch, i.e., the Sci-Fi channel, or UPN. Sign in to see full entry.
