Let's design a church . . .

What are the bare essentials of a church to fulfill God's mission? Is more better, what would you use to furnish a building for the worship of Christ? Does He require the stained glass decor, or the tapestries from the Orient? How do brass collection plates collect our money more effectively than... Sign in to see full entry.

As I expected

So many comments are coming at me regarding the appropriateness of having an eleborate church, if a congregation so chooses. I don't argue that point; I merely point out that I don't think that's what the Christ would want. If a church wants to be contrary to Christ's example and his teachings, that... The hypocrisy of some Christians commenting on my blog . . .

Christ seems to teach us to be austere in our religion, if not in our entire lives. It is inconvenient to follow Christ's teachings, and some may choose not to follow those "suggestions" Christ gave us, yet, that does not change what he allegedly taught. If anywhere, churches should be austere,... Sign in to see full entry.

Why are churches so expensively built?

Although not a Christian, I would wonder and ask Christians what their founder, Mr. Jesus himself, would think of the expensive property, fancy buildings and elaborate furnishings of those who profess to follow his teachings. That doesn't sound perfect to me. Then we get into the argument of how could a perfect being create an... Sign in to see full entry.

Angels, Devils and People

People seem to get obsessed with religious thoughts during times of crisis. Why is that? It is natural that a person needs comfort during rough times, but that very thing, neglecting religion except during trying times, indicates to me the fallacy of religion, gods, angels and devils. Only people... Sign in to see full entry.

Still not clear . . .

The responder returned with more "nebulosity" in a largely meaningless response to this blog. I still ask: which god, the Jewish god, one of the several Christian gods, the Middle Eastern god? One of the Asian gods? All claim to be "the God of the Universe." Can they all be correct? Are none... Sign in to see full entry.

One Responder to this blog asked:

"Since when does God promise to keep us from pain or inconvenience?" Well, first I would ask, to which god does he (or she) refer? Second, it is we who are responsible for much of our pain and inconvenience, not some mythological character. Sign in to see full entry.

Pat Robertson's Prayers . . .

... regarding Hurricane Isabel are apparently not working. Perhaps he is losing touch with God? Or, perhaps God is not as "personal" as "Rev." Robertson claims. Sign in to see full entry.
