What does a congregation seek?

What kind of "atmosphere" does a chuch seek? The building, the dress of those attending, and the demeanor of the pastor all add to that "atmosphere." Pastor Pedigrees

Is it important for a church to hire a college-educated pastor? What if God calls someone who has little schooling, will the lack of education keep him from being hired by a church? Are there any churches that use pastors without college educations? Sign in to see full entry.

Much more important than a church building is the person who assumes leadership of the congregation. Speaking of the Salvation Army . . .

The Salvation Army is pretty much the only Christian organization I know of that is actually attempting to do what Christ allegedly taught us in the Gospels. Was it an Oversight?

During the recent visit of hurricane Isabel to the Hampton Roads, VA vicinity, a number of smaller churches were active in the community, and the newspapers covered their efforts and announced their services to those in need because of the storm. A question arose about the nether regions of which I wrote. Does God require a church to have a building? Is a church building merely a place for people to congregate? Or is it an institution to glorify god? Or is it an institution to help the needy among us?
