A burning desire for cremation

Cremation is one of those things not many people think about. Do crematoriums ever have fire sales? It could be a matchless experience (they use electronic ignition). Sign in to see full entry.

New Idea for the dearly departed . . .

This could probably be done with today's technology. We prepare the body to not decay, performing any necessary "plastic surgery." We then we dress the corpse what was the person't favorite outfit, or one depicting a favorite activity, then we put some "space age" clear plastic shell around the... Sign in to see full entry.

Big Bodies

Perhaps the funeral of the 350 pound druggie/felon will make America's Funniest Videos soon. I'd like to see the pallbearers work on that one. Sign in to see full entry.

Sad, but it must be true . . . .

On the news last night, a sad story of the funeral of a baby found at a landfill; no family ever found. The casket was styrofoam. Is this something new? How different is such a casket from the styrofoam coolers we buy at convenience stores? Sign in to see full entry.

Recipes for funerals . . . .

Food served after funerals is always so good. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to collect the recipes of foods served at after funeral receptions and publish a book for those occasions. The book could be titled, Food to Die For. Sign in to see full entry.

Imaginative funerals

Corpses are too stuffy in their attire at funerals. People should be buried in something unusual, perhaps something they would not hve bee "caught dead in" (oops!) while they were still among us. For instance, a studly athlete could be dressed in a cheerleader outfit, or a ne'er-do-well bum in a... Sign in to see full entry.

Confusion at funerals.

I am often confused at funerals. Particular problems arise when you attend the funeral of a person not of your faith. Do you pray for the person in the name of his god, or of your god? I know, in the case of Christians and Jews, it's supposedly the same god, yet, the Christians throw in, "In Jesus... Sign in to see full entry.

The Calmness of Morticians

The few times I have dealt with funeral homes, I notice how calm, even serene, the staff is. It must be a stressful busniess, with relatives all wanting things "just right," or unhappy with one detail or another. How do they do it? Do morticians in school take a course on dealing with the bereaved?... Sign in to see full entry.

That winsome smile . . . .

I often wonder how that "Mona Lisaish" smile is held on a corpse during viewing. It is both comforting and eerie to see, and does seem to make the corpse look alive, kind of. I often wonder why the corpse is smiling; perhaps it knows something I don't know? Sign in to see full entry.

If a corpse could

What would a corpse eat? Deviled Eggs? Angel's Food Cake? Makes me wonder. Have they ever served Deviled Eggs at a funeral reception, you know, that eating thing done after a funeral? Is there a name for that? What do you call that thing, a reception, or what? Sign in to see full entry.
