Coloring Books About Death and the Funeral Process

Children, like the rest of us, are afraid of the unknown, and death is the great unknown, universally feared and misunderstood. Perhaps having coloring books of the process of funerals would help a child come to grips with what funerals are and how they are a necessary step in everyone's lives.... Sign in to see full entry.

Adorned Caskets

Another form of art consists of panoramas (right term?) covering the inside lid of the caskets of loved ones. The art work generally depicts scenes relating to the deceased's interests, i.e., a fishing scene, or a scene of a beloved place, etc. Kind of nice, but short-lived as a work of art,... How Do the Dead Occupy Themselves?

Perhaps they hang out at the local funeral parlour, exchanging greetings; another option could be that they eat donut holes, or ghost toasties? Personally, I think they visit the living, to see what they couldn't see before; as ghostss, they can do that now. Most sinister are those newly dead who... Sign in to see full entry.

Interesting article I read about funerals.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember which publication I saw it in, since I was traveling and it could have been in any number of sources. It was about green funerals, funerals in which people are using non-funeral home services whernever possible, and even using cardboard or inexpensive pine boxes, and... Sign in to see full entry.

Adjunct Positions . . . .

Harvesting Organs from the Dead. Last night I met a very interesting gentleman whose job it was to Harvest Organs from the Dead, organs that would be used to transplant into the living. He told me that, on the average, each cadaver will save 7 lives. That is a really great ratio, and certainly... Sign in to see full entry.

Drive-Through Funeral: Check out the link!

No kidding! I read about a funeral parlor that had a drive-through window where they placed the body in its casket. People could then drive through and pay their respects without leaving their cars. Is that not amazing, or what? Just googled and found a link to the story: Drive through funeral Sign in to see full entry.

Write your own obituary . . . .

After having read some of the obituaries in the local paper, I think I will sit down and write my own, maybe update it annually, or if something really important happens to me while I am living. Yes, I know that I'll have to pay to have it published, but it is a negligible sum considering that it... Sign in to see full entry.

Topics of discussion

Many topics of discussion are covered by guests, friends, and relatives at funerals. One would think that the main topic would be the "guest of honor" whose funeral it is. But that is very often not the case. In fact, everything but the deceased are more often discussed. Subjects at a typical... Sign in to see full entry.

Do the dead really care?

Do the Dead really care what they wear? You'd think they did. But, I think the dead wear what makes their friends and relatives, particularly those arranging the funeral, comfortable and happy. It's kind of like my wearing a jacket whenever I visit my Mom because it helps keep her warm to see me in... Sign in to see full entry.

Make-Up

Apparently, make-up for corpses is a big aspect of the funeral industry. I wonder what brands of make-up are used, or if there are special brands to be used on corpses. For instance, a blush may be used called Pale-Away, or a hair color, such as, "Used to be Blonde. Of course, a scent would be... Sign in to see full entry.
