Quite Unexpected

I just watched a film called "Ladies In Lavender" which turned out to be nothing like I expected but was very good. I thought from the title and the picture on the front that it would be a sort of film that Jessica Tandy would have done had she still been alive. I thought maybe it was similar to... Full of Twists and Turns...

If you haven't seen the classic film, "Witness for the Prosecution," I would highly recommend it! It stars Charles Laughton and I can't even tell you what it's about without ruining the story so you will just have to take my word and see it. Sign in to see full entry.

Another Southern Classic

I just finished talking about "Driving Miss Daisy" but there's another movie that's a favorite of mine and it's also based on events in the south. It's called "Fried Green Tomatoes" and it's wonderful! I think part of the reason I enjoy movies about the south is because of the tendency toward... Sign in to see full entry.

An American Classic

I'm sitting here watching "Driving Miss Daisy" for the umpteenth time. I have no idea how many times I've seen it but I always enjoy it. Of course, I grew up in the south so I understand a lot of the context that the movie revolves around. It's almost like going home to my childhood because I spent... Sign in to see full entry.

What Is Your Favorite Old Movie?

I have several since I love old movies. One of my favorites is "People Will Talk" with Cary Grant and Jeanne Crain and Hume Cronyn. Another favorite is "Rear Window" with Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. And, another favorite that I haven't seen for a long time is "The Spirit of St. Louis" that also... Sign in to see full entry.

A Beautiful Story

A couple of weeks ago, I watched the movie, "The Lake House" with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves and I so enjoyed it. It was not what I expected because the ads really were deceptive, which was probably on purpose. It's a really interesting way to create a love story, though. It's almost like a... The Oscars Revisited

I just read an article about the upset at the 1977 Oscars when "Rocky" won. I didn't remember that "Rocky" beat out "All The President's Men," "Network" and "Taxi Driver." I was such a fan of the "Rocky" film at that point and was rooting for it to win so I didn't care about the other nominated... Sign in to see full entry.

An Oldie you might not know about...

One of my favorite movies is an old Cary Grant movie that I discovered on AMC. It's called "People Will Talk" and co-stars Jeanne Craine and Hume Cronyn. It's dramatic and funny in spots but mostly it's just a really good film. At least to me. Jeanne Craine plays a woman in an impossible situation... Sign in to see full entry.

WOW! What a movie, what a character!

Thirty years ago, I sat in a little theatre in the hill country of Texas and watched a film that so energized me that I ran four miles up hill to the boarding school I attended when it was over. Yesterday, I saw the sixth and final film based on that same character and I was just as energized... Sign in to see full entry.

Two New Recommendations...

A few days ago I discovered two very cute Christmas movies and have just now had time to write about them. The first one is called "The Twelve Dogs of Christmas." For anyone who is a dog or animal lover, you should really love this film. It's a sweet tale about friendship and trust and loyalty and... Sign in to see full entry.
