Venice is for lovers, not its food.

Venice was our first stop on our honeymoon and I have great memories of the place. However, a recent blog on Lonely Planet rings so true. We had trouble finding great food there. Although I did discover broccoli flowers with goat cheese (yum!) there and we bought some great olive oil there, we... Sign in to see full entry.

Ah, the French!

Have you heard about the French Royalists staging a funeral for what is believed to be a heart? According to DNA results, the heart is supposed to belong to Louis XVII, who died at the age of 10 in a revolutionary prison. Louis XVII was the son of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI, who faced the... Sign in to see full entry.

Vatican's Dress Code?

Did you know the Vatican has a dress code? Since we will be traveling to Italy this Sept., I have been trying to think of comfortable summer clothes to pack for the trip (no, I am not packing this early...just thinking). So, imagine my surprise when I read that the Vatican does not admit anyone with... Sign in to see full entry.

Hilton Honors sham!

So, I am enrolled in Hilton Honors rewards program but I have yet to find a room where I can redeem them in any city I wish to visit! I have all these miles on various airlines and now even Hilton Honors points but am unable to get much for it on this trip to Italy. It seems all of these companies... Sign in to see full entry.

How do I know whether a travel website is legitimate?

I just found a great website to book hotel rooms in Italy. It is called bookitalyhotels.com. How do I know it is a legitimate website and we won't end up in Venice only to find out that we don't have a room booked? Anyone out there ever hear of this website or have any ideas on how I can check its... Sign in to see full entry.

Florence is Off, Elba is On!

We spent an entire Sunday detailing our itinerary further and realized that our current list of must-see areas didn't give us enough time in the Italian countryside. Of the three cities, Florence, Venice, and Rome, Florence is the only one we could delete. We can't go on a honeymoon to Europe and... Sign in to see full entry.

Another Travel Agent Tip!

I talked to yet another travel agent for hotel reservations in Italy. After all, the only reason I am willing to pay a $40 fee for a travel agent to book our lodging is because I don't want to be duped into staying at a dump there. His advice? American Airlines Vacations has the best hotel... Sign in to see full entry.

Did You Know?

It is often cheaper to buy international tickets from international airlines, rather than from American carriers. We just bought our airline tickets for Italy and the same itinerary on Delta was $200 more than on the European airlines! Here’s the best part: We will still fly Delta for part of our...
