The smell of infection from his mouth was almost unbearable but he was not ready to give up on life and he reminded us of this daily by wondering out occasionally through the house to bunt our coffee cups with his bead spilling the scalding contents down our fronts and swatting the other cats...

Deuce Boy
We stopped letting him out, without supervision. That was sad because daily adventures had always been a major part of his reason for living. We tried to get him out once a day so he could sit in the sun, the whole time watching anxiously out the window and running for the door ever time he moved....

The doctor gave Deuce an injection of Lasix to help draw the fluid out of his lungs and told my shaken family that he thought the immediate crises was over, however Deuce would need medication daily to prevent the fluid from building back up. That was okay we would do anything for the Deuce Boy...
