It's Over
pages are turning once again quickly - I feel a draft. the sadness of a great story ending and a scary beginning alone. i can taste truth on my tongue but the bitterness of blood soaks me to the bone. is this what it is like to be alone? to use your past as a blanket - or guide the future unknown, empty and dark? I drown in my misery and join fellow Man below.

Sheets
swimming in bedsheets against a cloudless sky a bed poem to lust or a miracle of ages we bend against the mold and try to fight against the sea but choppy waves push us over the edge of our love bed. love, of course, exists only between the sheets.

Drowning
I saw you last night floating in the lake a simple little swim, you said to see if you could touch the bottom. I turned my back to you and heard you drown and I couldn't help but think of everything you lack.

To Our Soldiers
a sweet surrounding a simple lullaby to rest the wearied and the loved a melody of memories floats on unchartered air carries her message across open seas. we sit on dark porches at twilight hearing memory's music remembering past loves present past times and future failures. we await their return clutching flags around us like blankets keeping us warm as the cool war calms. prayers and thoughts - enough to bring them home safely? some will die, some will live some will be honored a hundred...

shell
twist of the dial tuning or turning her out a yakking intensity to swallow up grief in a lonesome sound byte. "i'm sorry you pick the wrong guys to love" i say with false empathy. but you widdled away your life seeking revenge from him and find yourself in his arms again? what kind of life do you lead? why go back to bruises? You tell me you love him-- you lie. How can you love a shell? Throw it back to sea and search for an empire elsewhere. but she doesn't listen, turning back to the dial....

Defeating an Angel
soft angel kiss bends down from above a lullaby - or touch yet I turn away against the wind I stand facing heat: solice and flame. Angel kiss, pass me by I am not one worthy of your gaze I stand in shadows and deliver eternal frowns I play games with magic choices are the fame. A bridge to cross the river built against the void I try to be a part of your world but the gate is rusty on my side Angel, give up. Your defeat is mine too I lack nothing but see everything in you.
