William Makepeace Thackeray, Charles Dickens, and Jane Austen are my trio of Victorian novelists. I really can't make up my mind who is my favorite. However, Jane Austen died at the youthful age of 41, in July 1817. The novel, MANSFIELD PARK, written about 1806 has an unusual heroine: a poor relative of the Bertrams, where she (Fanny Price) is invited to live after her mom (in Portsmouth) could not prevent her alcoholic father from making baby after baby.
