They aren’t big enough! Time for Transplants!
Well, I promised you a growth spurt – and just look at them now! We have three chilli plants in each pot so it’s high time we split the plants and put them into their final pots individually so they can begin to set roots for their full growth over the coming months. With more sun and heat beaming through the window it’s the perfect climate for them. We will soon be travelling for three weeks so whilst they are being plant sitted at a pals house we won’t see them. When we return they’ll look...

Meet the Spicy and Fruity Neighbours!
So you’ve met our big boys, but who lives next door? The windowsill is home to three other species which are thriving in the plentiful sunlight! To the left you can see the crazy Dill plant which is uncontrollable. It’s great on fish, salads or just to chew on! Our Coriander plant is next, it is small as we use it continually for our curries. Finally is our Grapefruit, given to us by my step-dad as a 5 inch plant and it’s now doing very well. Apparently we can expect fruit in a year and a half –...

O.K. So it's less than an inch!!!
It's what you do with it that counts - and these big boys have great promise - you just have to be patient. Most of the Chillies have shot through the soil and spread their early baby leaves that just serve the purpose of getting them out of the seed - a bit like Beagle Two - but we know where these fellas have landed! We have arranged some vacation care for these delicate plants while we are on holiday. They will have to travel to a pal's flat for a few weeks but he's a keen grower and we know...

They're out of the Closet!
And we have the exclusive pics! These detailed large shots show you just what's been happening for our tiny chilli plants this week. Earlier this week two of our chillies emerged, now we have about 9 little tykes to care for. They have been moved to the kitchen windowsill to sunbathe - although it's pretty cloudy today in the midlands! In these shots you can see the quality of the organic compost - it's extra chunky and full of the nutrients these early plants needs to thrive. For more about the...

SOMETHING CHEEKY POKING OUT!
You don't have to wait long for these spicy geezers to get to business! Although I have failed to get any good pictures for you yet - we have two sets of sprouted chilli peppers now on the kitchen windowsill - already! Early Jalapeno (early being the right word!) and Bermuda. Bermuda Early Jalapeno how exciting... wish I could show you - have asked my fella to set up the camera properly to you can see the little uns! They are only 7mm high but once they break the surface their growth is...

RED HOT SEEDY ACTION!
It's all happening down under! They're germinating secretly under the soil and it's very quiet in the airing cupboard. The chilli seeds will be gearing up to sprout soon. We have already had an offer from a company who are interested in buying some of our harvest which is very exciting. Meanwhile we continue to make curries using up last years harvest which we stored away. Our next purchase will be Organic curry plant seeds from the site I have advertised on the Ethical Tweaks website this week...
