The prospects of Red Sox in 2005

The Sox unloaded Byung Sun Kim the other day and that

disappointed me. I thought he was a talented pitcher and hoped that he would make out with the Sox, but I guess that was not to be. His acquisition as a closer for Shea Hillebrand made me respect Theo Epstien because I beleived that Epstien would not stand pat. The Sox needed a closer at the time... Sign in to see full entry.

The Red Sox are without the services of Gabe Kapler

this year which is a little sad because he was a decent benchwarmer/outfielder who had a great arm and was capable whenever he got playing time. He came in handy last year when Trot Nixon was out for most of the year and he played quite a bit of the tough right field in Fenway. Gabe opted to play in... Sign in to see full entry.

This blog jumped a thousand places or so when I

didn't even write anything in it. I only changed the title to update it though the Sox could hardly do better than they did last year. This year the Sox have lost Pedro Martinez and Derek Lowe from their pitching staff and picked up David Welles and somebody else to replace them. Welles and Curt... Sign in to see full entry.

The Red Sox have lost Pedro Martinez

The Boston Red Sox have lost their best pitcher over the last six years, Pedro Martinez who signed with the New York Mets. He was perhaps the best pitcher the Red Sox have ever had, perhaps even better than Roger Clemens in his prime, but I have no great qualms about his leaving. If he wants to go,... Yesterday, the Red Sox signed David Welles, the

forty-two year old former Yankee (southpaw?). This could be a valuable addition to the Red Sox pitching staff because Cone could either be an effective second starter behind Curt Schilling if Pedro Martinez flies the coop or a valuable third starter if Pedro stays here. At forty-two years old,... Sign in to see full entry.

Pedro is talking to the Yankees

Pedro Martinez, pitching ace for the Red Sox for the last five years has been talking to the Yankees over his possible defection from Fenway to Yankee Stadium. That would be an interesting development though hardly unprecented as Roger Clemens and Wade Boggs both flew the Fenway coop to join the... Sign in to see full entry.

The Red Sox team graciously voted Nomar

Garciaparra a full share of their World Series money. I think that was a touching gesture that Nomar would appreciate. He was the face of the Red Sox for at least five years and I love him more than any other Red Sox player, but they did not make their run until they traded him to the Cubs. I don't... Eighteen years ago, after Bill Buckner made his error, David Letterman had

just about the whole New York Met team on his show and I wanted to beat each and every one of the Mets up. I thought they had won the World Series about as fairly as Bush won the 2000 election. Now David Letterman is going to have Johnny Damon on his show tonight so I feel a little better about... Sign in to see full entry.

Sox Win!

The Boston Red Sox swept the St. Louis Cardinals, the team with the best record in baseball to win the World Series for the first time since 1918. They have taken a monkey off the back of all New Englanders and their perseverance and interpridity should be an example to all of us. Ten days ago they... Sign in to see full entry.
