Happy 14th Birthday Americans with Disabilities Act!

I remember the day that the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), the most significant American civil rights legislation for disabled people ever, became law. I was 14 and enjoying my favorite two weeks of the year; those spent at a disability-only sleep away camp. We had a dance to celebrate and there was a huge American flag with the universal access symbol (the little man featured on the disability parking space signs) in the middle.
