The Last Picture Show, Closing Time

Greetings movie watches, I’ve been racking my brain lately, trying to figure out which post should go and which one should stay, and I have to say for the first time I haven’t the passion to viddy a cinema show, so I’m sad to say that the un-critic is retiring. Who knows maybe in the future I’ll be back, but for now I’m SillySoul thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the show. Sign in to see full entry.

The Devil Wears Parda (2006)

A couple of weeks ago my teenage niece and cousin dragged me to go see Waist Deep and I just couldn’t see wasting time reviewing that piece of drippable but I’ve been waiting for this one and yes it was worth the wait. Anne Hathatway plays Andy Sachs, a baby boomer, fresh out of college seeking a career in journalism but starting at the beginning with an assistant job with the devil herself Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) The CEO of a major fashion magazine company. Andy (short for Andrea) finds... Sign in to see full entry.

The Break-Up (2006)

If you’ve been locked up without access to any media it’s hard to bypass the whole Bradgelina -Vaugauston thing. The was started at the box office with Mr. and Mrs. Smith and this movie is Jennifer’s answer. Through the magic of advertising this was meant to be a comedy about relationships, but only turned out as Entertainment Weekly states Synthetic Hostility. Jen and Vince are a Chicago couple who ended there relationships but continued to live and torture each other in the same apartment (War... Sign in to see full entry.

The Omen (2006)

I had absolutely nothing to do the other day so what better way to spend my time at the movies. When I saw the previews for this, it was a stinker out of the starting gate. It’s basically the same story, same words, same premise only with younger actors (Julia Stiles and Live Schreiber) well with the exception of Mia Farrow. As the story goes we are on the dawn of the end of the world in Revelation the final plague upon the earth is the son of Satan, Damien. Through the power of politics he... Sign in to see full entry.

The Truth About Cats and Dogs (1996)

Ah yes another movie about mistaken identity but from the funny, short overweight women point of view. Abby ( Janeane Garafalo) is a witty veterinary with her own radio talk show who’s confident on her job but not when it comes to love. During one of her calls Brain (Ben Chaplin) a photographer with a rolling skating dog crisis become smitten with her and ask her out. Considering what she had to work with, Abby told him she looked one way then she really did, knowing she’ll never have to deal... Sign in to see full entry.

Lady Sings The Blues 1974

You all can fuss at me for taking so long to post this or just read Former Virgin…Still Smoking (shameless plug) and sympathize with me but anyway Diana Ross reminds me of Elvis when it comes to movies. She sings in all her movies and if not sing we have to put up with the soundtrack playing in the background of her singing as we did with Elvis. Some say that when a singer belts out tunes the can’t act, well I can’t really speak for Elvis but Whitney Huston, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez (Gigli,... Sign in to see full entry.

Airplane (1980)

It’s one of the classic comedies by Abraham and the Zucker brothers and even 25 years later it’s still one of the funniest movies. There are panicky passengers, a little Saturday Night Fever, inept pilots with the exception of auto pilot “Otto” who just inflated and singing nuns. The airport’s haven’t been the same. Cast include Robert Hayes, Juile Hagerty, Leslie Nelson. ~Silly Sign in to see full entry.

Rent(2005)

So as I mentioned some time ago I love musicals, but this one I did not love so much. I was actually waiting for this one since I heard about it when during those youthful transitional years when you fantasizes about boys and sex but the bubble permanently burst with the onslaught of Magic Johnson, Aids and safe sex. If I was a movie cliché I’d put myself out of misery. The song 526 minutes was a running theme song throughout the movie which for me it was more like 526 minutes of never ending... American Psycho (2000)

So this movie could be viewed in two ways, the worst suspense/ horror flick ever seen or once you put some thought into it, one of the most interesting thought-provoking film of it’s time. Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is a typical 80’s yuppie. Works on Wall Street, he’s got it all a stunning fiancée ( Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon), good looks and a vice president position, but that’s not what drives Patrick, he has an obsession with killing, raping and dismemberment, but what he finds... LQQk who's back!!!! Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (2005)

Well all since I have my single life back more then likly I'll have nothing better then to watch movies so looks like I'm back. I was very adamant about not viewing this version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because I loved the original one with Gene Wilder and usually re-makes are horrible, Godliza, King Kong, Annie, The Shinning, must I go on? But I have to say this version had less singing and kept me entertained. I think if it was anyone else but Tim Burton directing it, there is no... Sign in to see full entry.

The Brown Bunny (2003)

Just when you thought it was safe to go to someone eles movie reviews I’m baaaaackkk……lol. This was quite an interesting movie about lost love. It appears to be a typical break up between tow lovers, one a professional motorcyclist Bud (Vincent Gallo) and his free-spirited ex-girlfriend Daisy (Chloe Sevigny). Bud decides it’s time for him to race again, back in the town, of his life in California with Daisy. On his journey Bud opens up some old wounds, share them with a few others and finally... Strait Jacket (1964)

Once again another eyebrow rising melodrama from Mrs. Crawford Lucy Harbin (Joan Crawford) had been in an asylum for 20 years after axing her husband and his mistress during a crime of passion witnessed by her young daughter Carol while trying to renew ties with Carol (Diane Baker) who is now an adult about to be married, heads began to roll again. Ah only William Castle could bring about such a classic as this, if it wasn’t for pioneers like Castle, Ed Wood and Alfred Hitcock horror would not... Sign in to see full entry.

The lifestyle: Swinging in America (2000)

This documentary on shows swinging in America how it really truly is and it certainly not pretty, statistics show over 3 million Americans swings and 2.5 mill are lonely, old farts looking to get there freak on and break out from the conventional way of normal life. Then there’s the other half, the married couples who can handle open sexual romps without much thought of adultery. It is rather disturbing watching coupes especially the interaction between the couples, getting ready for the party,... Sign in to see full entry.
