Rumi- Look at Love

LOOK AT LOVE how it tangles with the one fallen in love look at spirit how it fuses with earth giving it new life why are you so busy with this or that or good or bad pay attention to how things blend why talk about all the known and the unknown see how unknown merges into the known why think separately of this life and the next when one is born from the last look at your heart and tongue one feels but deaf and dumb the other speaks in words and signs look at water and fire earth and wind... Nasruddin

Myself A monk said to Nasrudin: “I am so detached that I never think of myself, only of others.” Nasrudin answered: “I am so objective that I can look at myself as if I were another person, so I can afford to think of myself.” The Subtleties of the Inimitable Mulla Nasrudin Idries Shah Sign in to see full entry.

I wish I knew what you wanted.

I wish I knew what you wanted. You block the road and won't give me rest. You pull my lead-rope one way, then the other. You act cold, my darling! Do you hear what I say? Will this night of talking ever end? Why am I still embarrassed and timid about you? You are thousands. You are one. Quiet, but most articulate. Your name is Spring. Your name is wine. Your name is the nausea that comes from wine! You are my doubting and the lightpoints in my eyes. You are every image, and yet I'm homesick for... Sign in to see full entry.

St. Columba of Iona (Celtic Christian)

St. Columba of Iona (Celtic Christian) This is the luckiest day of the year when it falls on Thursday (as it does this year). The magical herb, St John's Wort, which flowers around summer solstice, was said to be St. Columba's favorite herb. He wore it underneath his armpit to ward off all kinds of evil. If you find some accidentally and you say this charm when you pick it, you can use it the same way: Arm-pit package of Columba the kindly Unsought by me, unlooked for I shall not be carried away... On Behalf of Love St. Thomas Aquinas

On Behalf of Love Every truth without exception -- no matter who makes it -- is from God. If a bird got accused of singing too early in the morning, if a lute began to magically play on its own in the square and the enchanting sounds it made drove a pair of young lovers into a wild, public display of passion, if this lute and bird then got called before the inquisition and their lives were literally at stake, could not God walk up and say before the court, "All acts of beauty are mine, all... WE HAVE NOT COME TO TAKE PRISONERS - Hafiz

WE HAVE NOT COME TO TAKE PRISONERS We have not come here to take prisoners, But to surrender ever more deeply To freedom and joy. We have not come into this exquisite world To hold ourselves hostage from love. Run my dear, From anything That may not strengthen Your precious budding wings. Run like hell my dear, From anyone likely To put a sharp knife Into the sacred, tender vision Of your beautiful heart. We have a duty to befriend Those aspects of obedience That stand outside of our house And... Sign in to see full entry.

The Báb (1819-1850)

The Báb (1819-1850) O n May 23, 1844, in Shiraz, Persia, a young man known as the Báb announced the imminent appearance of the Messenger of God awaited by all the peoples of the world. The title Báb means "the Gate." Although Himself the bearer of an independent revelation from God, the Báb declared that His purpose was to prepare mankind for this advent. Swift and savage persecution at the hands of the dominant Muslim clergy followed this announcement. The Báb was arrested, beaten, imprisoned,... Sign in to see full entry.
