For Days Like These

For Days Like These It’s time; no need for heat, no need for air It’s fall, a sweet breeze blowing in the trees A poet’s heart was made for days like these My heart’s burdens are light for me to bear No sweat on brow today; no winter’s freeze It’s time; no need for heat, no need for air It’s fall, a sweet breeze blowing in the trees Oh my. Life seems gentle; without a care Words that rhythm are picked from every tree My thoughts flow as one continual prayer It’s time; no need for heat, no need... Sign in to see full entry.

Ode To An Ode

Not often in life, if ever, can you do something and say I don't believe that has ever been done before, but I think I have done just that. Recently I was online looking for recitals of poetry and found some interesting ones like a virtual movie of Longfellow reciting "The Day Is Done" and then I come upon some Odes, one by Keats called Ode to Autumn and I became interesting in writing an Ode, an ode as you probably know is a poem glorifying a person, place or thing. So I wrote a few, one on... Sign in to see full entry.

Dreams And Voices

Dreams And Voices Way up into the night they are with me The haunting night dreams that disturb my sleep Trying to tell me so many stories Some memories I do not care to keep Voices so soft are constantly calling Making a sound upon the swirling wind On this night I know not where they come from Yet somehow they pretend to be my friend Music of glorious wonderful song And yet mixed with tunes of sorrow and woe Melodies that seem somewhat familiar And then those that my heart has never known I... For He Is Tired

For He Is Tired All alone with thoughts soldier kneels to rest On top of hill: musket cools down from fire With hopes of night’s silence; for he is tired With heart beating so fast inside his chest So young, so brave; home thoughts keep him inspired All alone with thoughts soldier kneels to rest On top of hill: musket cools down from fire The smoke, the smell, the noise they all attest This war drags on; the sky filled with gunfire He thinks of those now still and knows he’s blessed All alone... Frozen In Time

Frozen In Time The pond lies still; the sky looks upon her The clouds play there, oh my see how they shine The trees with snow stand there frozen in time I stand in awe, my heart enthralled, mirror My eyes look down but see this sky of thine The pond lies still; the sky looks upon her The clouds play there oh my see how they shine Oh God of earth this heart in me is stirred How great thou art, such peace my soul doth fine Its times like these my heart, my soul prefers The pond lies still; the... Pine Tree

Pine Tree Pine tree standing so tall and oh so green Oh how I love the way you stay the same Winter, summer, spring, fall, thru sun, thru rain Old friend from far, no doubt you can be seen Your light it shines so bright and bears your name Pine tree standing so tall and oh so green Oh how I love the way you stay the same No change in you, tho’ winds blow hard and claim That they are strong and shake your limbs and scream Of all the trees God made oh bless His name Pine tree standing so tall and... Home (Haiku Sonnet)

Home (Haiku Sonnet) Cabin sits in the woods A sweet gentle stream runs by Something is missing The grass in the field Dances away in the wind I wish I was there Wildflowers on hill Are kissed by the butterflies The picture is clear The birds sing their song Echoes high up in the trees Love is in the air Longing seems to be calling Seems like home is always near Sign in to see full entry.

Oh Cloud (Madrigal)

Oh Cloud (Madrigal) Oh cloud above floating over my head Do you come to bring peace, bring storm or shade? Do you come to comfort my soul afraid? Under the sun today I’ll make my bed Of dirt and leaves of dreams and tears it’s made Oh cloud above floating over my head Do you come to bring peace, bring storm or shade? I think how soon the night will come with dread Once more of all it seems I’ve been betrayed Alone again, sorrows, heartaches not fled Oh cloud above floating over my head Do you... What In The World Are You Doing (Fibonacci Poem)

What In The World Are You Doing We’re told to go and compel them all to come in. To tell them the blood of Jesus will cover all of their sins, don’t you think it is time? Before it’s too late, I want to ask, what in the world are you doing for Heaven’s sake? Yes our Jesus is coming His reward with Him He will give to every man, this shall be according to what each man’s works have been. What would you say? If you heard Him say, what in the world are you doing for Heaven’s sake? Yes to win souls... Sign in to see full entry.
