The panopticon of the stalker
This entry was actually inspired by something I'd written on Themestream a few years back. If I'm repeating an earlier entry from this blog, please forgive me for seeming repetitive. The term "panopticon" comes from the world of the judicial system. It is actually a term I'd theoretically apply to a... Sign in to see full entry.

Verbal abuse
I'm sorry if I've repeated anything in my past few posts, but there are a lot of "newbies" on Blogit, and I feel it's only fair that I get this information out there so that maybe one case of abuse can be prevented. I got another email today about verbal abuse, and I wanted to share the types of... Sign in to see full entry.

More potential signs of abuse
9. "Playful" use of force in sex: This is perhaps my former boyfriend's biggest interest. One of the articles in this BDSM contents site of his talks about consent in terms I don't feel very comfortable using on Blogit. There is little concern there about what others - particularly third parties... Sign in to see full entry.

The potential signs of abuse
This set of warning signals came into my inbox this morning. I'm on several email lists having to do with abuse, and these signs came from one of those email lists. Many women really do want to know just what to look for in a potential abuser, so that they can avoid those people devoutly. Here are... Sign in to see full entry.

Another pedophile gets outed
I'm sure you have all heard by now that former Congressman Mark Foley was caught with his virtual pants down, sending sexually explicit emails to underage teen boys. Now, I don't know many details of the case, but those that I do know appall me. I have no idea why Foley would send explicit emails to... Sign in to see full entry.

Paper tigers
Over the years, I have found Toby Rice Drews' Getting Them Sober series very helpful. Drews is a licensed clinical social worker who works, primarily by phone, with the wives of alcoholics, trying to help them heal from the effects their spouses' alcoholism has had on their lives. Getting Them Sober... Sign in to see full entry.

Consequences
Much of the writing in this blog was inspired by my relationship with my former boyfriend. Now, I'm sure he would want me to stop writing material about that relationship, in the belief that I am obsessed with that relationship; in fact, one of the titles listed in this commentaries link (a link... How not to treat a student
This article, found on AOL's proprietary news site, is a perfect example of just what I get my personal undies in a wad about. I'm grateful this particular teacher is being held accountable for her actions - if I were the abused boy's parents, I'd be very upset and angry with the teacher for abusing... Domestic violence and domestic pets
I'm watching a two-hour Emergency Vets special on Animal Planet right now. (It's 1:16 PM Central Daylight Time, on September 1, 2006.) Steve Petersen, DVM, who used to work at Denver, Colorado's Alameda East, had to repair a shoulder wound on a Rottweiler who was stabbed in that area of his anatomy... Sign in to see full entry.

Missing the point
This is yet another blog entry inspired by a comment. Someone left a comment on my last post, referring to the fact that breakups can indeed be very sad events, even for the person initiating the breakup of a romantic relationship. Yes, this is true. In fact, consenting adults do go through the... Sign in to see full entry.

About this Blog
The name of the post is derived from a Francis Schaeffer book, and intended to rebut something I'd seen on the Internet. The blog itself is about what I've learned about relationships from the ones I've had, and the ones I've observed. It will not be pleasant to read, and might wander off-topic occasionally, but is intended to be a long-term blog reading like a public journal. Links
