Prison of the Mind

Locked away and lost in a prison of the mind Violence and hatred are the shackles that bind Eradicated goodness replaced with an evil plight Nothing left but sadness, no longer sees the light A man among the living, a soul that’s walking dead Images of innocence lost inside his head Long ago forgotten dreams of a normal life Fruitless possibilities of a home with kids and a wife A spirit that’s been bruised and broken, beaten down by time Going through life’s motions like a theatrical street... In a Valley called Death As she walks among the shadows of a valley called death She secretly longs to take her last breath So tired of hearing religious men preach, “Believe in our God, trust what we teach!” So she reaches out to lonely men who worship her pleasures with praises of, “Oh God!” as they lay. She’s found a religion of service for pay. As she sucks dry their souls she feeds her power, Momentary satisfaction, getting paid by the hour They don’t ask for much, just her time for a day...
