Remembering
I had the opportunity to spend the year of 1986 in Haiti, a beautiful country for sure, but at the same time, one wracked by overwhelming poverty. I left for Haiti on January 29th, 1986, the day after the Challenger space shuttle explosion....a time of high emotions. I will never forget the sight of the smoke and debris in the rearview mirror, as I headed for the airport in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida that day.
