Rearranging and Organization

Reading, Writing and...
Ellie hasn't been writing much lately. She found a new series of books that she really loves... called Ivy and Bean. She has been doing a lot of reading. I love to see her curled up on the couch under a blanket reading her heart out. So cozy!

Building Pictures
Ellie has decided to draw pictures of buildings...and in a very creative way, I might add. She draws a shape of something...for example, a mug, and then adds windows and doors. My Elizabeth (we often call her Ellie) didn't get much writing done on her small vacation. Instead, she came down with a full blown cold. That put a damper on things for sure. Journal Therapy Promising
My Elizabeth is at a hotel with 2 of her siblings and a good friend of mine. When I talked to them last night, my 12 year old Sarah said they had directed Elizabeth to her journal twice already... and that it seemed to be "working". (see yesterday's post). Much to everyone's relief and enjoyment.

Writing...Good Therapy
My little girl suffers from an obsessive compulsive disorder. Maybe I'll go into it a little more in a future post, But suffice it to say here that she bought a beautiful journal today which I think will be a great therapy tool. When she is compelled to say the same thing again and again and again...

We are off...
We are off today to go look at (and buy) those journals and pens and stationary and anything that has to do with writing. I am so excited. Elizabeth is only 8 and yet she is drawn to these same things that I am. My other 4 children are looking at us as though we are nuts to be so excited about this...

My little Elizabeth turned 8 last week. She got some gift cards and so we are going to the mall tomorrow to spend them! What does she want? "Some very nice journals," she says. "To write all of my poems in."
