Old Man At Sunset

This was a photo from nearly a year ago. I snapped several of these and then made sure it was alright with the man there that I had taken them. As he looked at them, he told me, "I'm just considering the end of the day. I'm just an old man watching an old day make its final attempt to be pertinent.'... Sign in to see full entry.

This is Mackinaw Island as you see it coming in on a tour boat. There are no 'engine propelled' devices on the island, with bikes and horses being the main transportation devices. Just a heads up, nothing is cheap on this island. Nothing. You can rent a bike there, but you could probably buy one... Sign in to see full entry.

Another Flower

This was from a couple of years back. I had a few random flowers growing along the edge of the back yard, most of which needed some help from a real gardener... which I am not. However, this flower took things by the roots and began to make itself known. I came out one morning and saw the sun... Sign in to see full entry.

Another photo I took last year in the late spring. This is just outside of the small town of Hessel Michigan, east of St. Ignace.I stopped in town to get fuel and asked about the place. The woman I spoke with told me that the house was from the mid 1800's, well over 150 years old. Note the lilac... Sign in to see full entry.

I took this a week or so back. This is Kaake Lake, about five miles to the south and west of me. It had been one of those 85 degree days and my dogs were all laying around panting, so we went for a drive in my old 1999 Buick Park Ave. It's got over 450,000 miles on it, uses no oil, gets 33 mpg on... This was from a year ago. I was in Copper Harbor, one of the northern most towns on the Keweenaw Peninsula on the west side of the UP. It was still daylight when I spotted the moon coming up in the southeastern sky. It was so full and bright, I decided to 'waste' a few camera clicks on it. Sign in to see full entry.

Oh Dear!

This is another shot I got while out at the Seney National Wildlife Refuge. I had thought I had heard a rustling ahead of me, so I slowed down and began to creep forward. It took me several minutes to see this little guy, but he flicked an ear and my eyes instantly found him. I moved forward another... Sign in to see full entry.

More From The Seney Wildlife Refuge

I had a lot to think about today, so I took a trip over to the Seney National Wildlife Refuge about 15 miles down the road. I got a number of nice photos, but I like this one of a female Sandhill crane hunting for food the best. I couldn't see exactly what she was catching, but I know there were a... In my runnings, I had passed this lake on M-28 in the Hiawatha National Forest many times. Oddly, unlike so many other lakes, there was no big sign with its name. It was getting close to sunset as I stood on a short pier, and I was taking some photos of various things, when the sun hit that 'golden... Sign in to see full entry.

This is a lighthouse near Copper Harbor Michigan. Sometimes I like to play with the photo. On this one, I muted the colors a bit to give it a bit more of a visual effect. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it stood out from the rest of them. Sign in to see full entry.
