Life Begins Where The Pavement Ends

My nephew and I obviously staged this shot, but it seemed to be a truth to us. For the last few years, every time we cross the Mighty Mac, the singing of this song is 'mandatory. ' The verse where he sings the lines below is my ringtone to my cell: Stood alone on a mountain top starin' out at the... Sign in to see full entry.

Fire In The Sky

Just another sunset in Heaven. I took this this fall as I walked west down the Dollarville Road. Sign in to see full entry.

Early Winter Au Train Sky

This is a Lake Superior beach between Marquette and Au Train last October. The first snows were melting away, and the sky was beautiful. The waters were ice cold, but the air was just warm enough to cast a light fog. Sign in to see full entry.

Chapin Pit

This is Chapin Pit near Iron Mountain Michigan. A 'Captain Wicks' and his crew pitched their tents on the site which is now the water-filled east side of Chapin Pit on July 5th 1879. With the lumber they brought with them, they set up a shack for a kitchen, building a roof over the table. Beginning... Sign in to see full entry.

The East Channel Light House

This is located northwest of Munising, Michigan and was intended to lead boats from Lake Superior through the channel east of Grand Island into the Munising Harbor. Constructed of wood, the light first opened for service in 1868. This was taken on a beautiful June day back in 2016. Sign in to see full entry.

A Marsh In Winter

Nothing fancy, just a winter scene along a tributary to the mighty Tahquamenon River. As you can tell, the current is moving right along here, which keeps it from freezing over. Sign in to see full entry.

Prayer of the Woods

You will find signs like this in various places across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is a reminder that we must care for the trees that cover my beautiful and beloved state. The local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) carefully grooms the various forests to make sure that we don't have the... Sign in to see full entry.

On A Winters Day

As the Simon and Garfunkel song goes, " On a winters day, in a deep and dark December..." This was a late December afternoon. It was about zero and the sun was setting. Although stark, I find this photo beautiful in its own way. I hope you enjoy it. Sign in to see full entry.

Friday, January 4, 2019

This will be my last photo mount for a couple of days to rest up. I had this one loaded a day back, so I'll give ya this one and be back, hopefully by Monday. This sight was along a nature trail over by Marquette. I took the photo and got away from it, but an unbelievable number of morons stood... Sign in to see full entry.

More Bang For Your Duck

Believe it or not, these are not tame ducks. I had gone down to this small creek down by the Dollarville Flooding area to take a specific photo for a project I was doing, and found all these ducks swimming there. I had just bought a new 50 pound bag of dog food, so I opened it and filled a large... Sign in to see full entry.
