Marquette In The Mist

I had to run over to Marquette yesterday to see a specialist, but decided on the way home to pull into a 'scenic pulloff' area to 'cleanse my soul.' Yeah, I really think about it like that. Being outside helps me keep moving forward. There was a small foot path that went back toward a river I knew... Sign in to see full entry.

They Went That Way!

Nothing earth-shattering today, just something that amused me as I was wandering. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was the the old cartoon stuff, "He went thata way!!" Sign in to see full entry.

Sunset In The Woods

I took this earlier this fall with my cellphone. We had been out taking all kinds of photos, angling for 'just the right shot' for a project, until I realized that my camera battery was about to take a break and that we weren't going to reach the car before the sky went black. As we broached the... Sign in to see full entry.

Pte Aux Chenes River At Sunset

Pointe aux Chenes River is quite a short river, roughly six miles long, that is just north of St. Ignace. It starts its life as it exits Round Lake, and then works its way, twisting and turning through the small marshes that populate the area just north of the Mackinaw Bridge before emptying into... Evening At Seney - Complete With Political Insight

There was an odd evening sky this particular night over in the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, a 25,000+ acre preserve that is owned and maintained by the State Of Michigan with funds from the Federal government... probably for the same reason that the Mackinaw Bridge is a 'privately owned'... Scott Falls in Winter

This is a nice little falls that is just off M-28, one of the two main east-west roads across the UP. Depending on the time of year you see it, it can be a mere trickle or it can be quite substantial. It's about 20 miles west of Munising between the towns of Christmas and Au Train. This page shows... Pinnacle Falls

This was a nice visit over to the west of Marquette Michigan, about halfway between Munising and the Keewenaw Peninsula, but it is also a 'tough sledding' access. As you can see, it is quite a 'wild' area and isn't a trip for everyone. The river is the 'Yellow Dog River,' and the falls are the... Sign in to see full entry.

The Mighty Mac In Ice

This photo was taken about late December of last year. The blue ice effect always astounded me. Even now, when I look at it, it reminds me of the song by Blood, Sweat, & Tears " Sometimes In Winter." What ya think? Sign in to see full entry.

Snowy Owl In Flight

I don't think I posted this one the other day, but this is the same female Snowy Owl in flight. After I got the real nice shot of her, she took off, leaving me with this... wait for it... 'parting shot.' Sign in to see full entry.

A First Snow Leaf Funeral

I've always tried to take 'artistic' photos instead of 'just pictures.' I've walked a few thousand feet more to be in the right place to get a shot that makes you go "WOW!" and to try to frame things differently, kind of like the dandelion in the sunset a few pics down. After our first snow up here... Sign in to see full entry.
