Eagle On A Windy Day

I caught this young man on a blustery day. You can see by his feathers and his claws, the wind was quite strong. I was able to get quite close to him, mainly because he was not willing to take a chance to take-off in the breeze. Sign in to see full entry.

Very Unusual Creature in the UP Found!

I took this photo a few weeks back, and to be honest, I had no clue what it was. I had the dogs out for a walk along the lake a few days back, and ran into a DNR (Department of Natural Resources) guy eating his lunch there. After asking him if he minded if I approached him (China Flu and all), I... Sign in to see full entry.

A Male Red-Wing Blackbird

I took this other day when we were in the upper 50's for the first time since September. This young man was not happy about me intruding on what he considered his territory. Never mind that I had safe-guarded it all winter long, he was back and taking over. I'm not sure if you've ever intruded on a... Sign in to see full entry.

Copper Harbor Green

This was taken back in the summer of 2016 at one of the northern most points of Copper Harbor. It is about 350 miles north to the Canadian shore. The water has a heavy green hue due to the high copper content of the land around it. Sign in to see full entry.

This snake was about ready to burrow in for the winter when I saw him in mid October. He was fat, slow, and not wanting to pretend to fight. It snowed about three days later, so his decision to go into brumation, which is dormancy similar to hibernation, was a good one! For those unfamiliar, the... Sign in to see full entry.

Riding The Storm Out

Oh, the waters may look calm, but there's a major storm rolling into this Lake Superior bay over by Marquette. In the distance, the fading sun sends out a rainbow, telling anyone with any smarts to get to shore! I have this photo up as a 30"x20" portrait in my living room. Sign in to see full entry.

I had just gotten a close-up lens and this was one of my first successes in figuring out how it worked. Ever wonder why it hurts so much when a horsefly bites you/ Wonder no more! Sign in to see full entry.

Here's a creature that most people will avoid, as do most of the creatures of the forest, the Striped skunk. While they don't hibernate per se, they do take prolonged naps, coming out only to look for food now and then. This is one I took a week back while out walking. Fortunately, I saw it before... Memories of Growing Up on the Farm

Make this barn about twice its size, sporting a better coat of paint, and you have my youth. My dad had three John Deere tractors and a 1939 Farmall 'BN.' Our milkhouse, the building that was added to the barn on the front left of this photo, was much nicer back then, but I spent about 40% of my... Sign in to see full entry.

Superior Green

This little stair way to heaven is located about thirty miles west of Munising, Michigan. I was told (and somewhat believe) that the green water comes from the high copper content in the ground, and thus, the water. I remember visiting this area as a child, and finding large lumps of raw copper... Sign in to see full entry.
