A trail Through Canyon Falls

Again, this is from a year or two back when we went to Canyon Falls. This used to be a tributary of the river, but time has reduced the size of its flow. As you pass through it, you can see tens of thousands of years of 'history' on either side of you. Sign in to see full entry.

Railroad To Nowhere

In the late 1870s, the discovery of huge deposits of copper and then logging spurred tremendous growth in the UP of Michigan. While the copper is is still mined on a limited basis, the lumber industry went broke in the late 1890s. As a result, the population of the area dropped quite rapidly,... Sign in to see full entry.

I know a lot of people don't like or appreciate spiders, but they serve a very important job in nature. This guy had set up not only an efficient way to catch insects, he had built a very beautiful web. Sign in to see full entry.

Rider On The Storm

As you can see, Mama Superior is upset. This was taken in the bay area over near Marquette. While I knew that a storm was coming, it moved in in a right smart hurry. I have not a clue what the splash of orange in the center of that photo might be. It was beginning to rain and because I had the... Sign in to see full entry.

Hello, Porky!

I think I surprised this young creature. Most animals wouldn't even approach him, but I did and you can see the look of amazement in his eyes as I got within five feet of him/her. Sign in to see full entry.

It is in the very corner of the Keeweenaw Peninsula as it heads north to Copper harbor. The river slides... Sign in to see full entry.

Fall Is Coming - A Tip of the Hat to 'Game Of Thrones"

A Storm Over Superior

I went out Friday evening by Gran Marias, and a storm was beginning to kick up on Mama Superior. As the cold winds of change begin to come across Big Mama, they pick up a lot of moisture and the temperature drops as it is exposed to the deep lake. A storm on Superior is never a good time to be out... Sign in to see full entry.

Now Here's Something You Don't See Everyday!

I see the occasional red fox, but usually it's only a fleeting glance as it disappears into the woods. Then this morning, I happened upon this guy who seemed to be as curious about me as I was about him. I got three good photos before he decided that he had seen all he wanted to see, and then just...
