July...

In case you thought I'd forgotten to research the origins of July! July was once the fifth month, and thus called Quintilis. When the new calendar changed it to the seventh month, it was renamed in honor of Julius Caesar. In Old English, July had two names: “Maed-monath” and “Heg-monath.”... Sign in to see full entry.
