The Daily Bilge is a newspaper I started while assigned on an ocean going construction vessel serving the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico. The items appearing in the paper deal with the daily events of life at sea with a bunch of sailors...I have tried to tone the rather colorful language that usually accompanies deep sea sailors, but not entirely. For those of you who demand pc...close your ears and eyes while the rest of us find the humor that just might be almost like some of your days at work! I have given names to the engines...all girl names since we were an all male engineering crew. Vessel departments had their own titles...Electricians bore the title of a knight, the bridge crew were lords, the bridge was known as the Crystal Palace, the captain was king, engineers were doctors since we had to make all of the repairs...the deck welding crew were earls, and of course the kitchen staff were orderlies since no one really knew what was being served...and we probably
