What is salvation?

Can somebody tell me, succintly, what the christian salvation is all about? Those of my relatives who might have been able to tell me have all passed on. I think, there is some fear-punishment thing going on with salvation that I just don't understand. I will be saved, if I accept Christ as my lord... Sign in to see full entry.

Angelic nudges

I am being getting nudges from my angelic companions to explore praying. There is a place about 20 minutes away where I can get paid to work on a prayer line. It is not much money. But, clearly that is not the reason to pray with people. These angelic nudges are interesting. They are so subtle. It... Sign in to see full entry.

Seeing the world with new eyes

Well, I have a new pair of eyeglasses. My last pair is over three years old and I was never happy with them. At my age, we have to deal with questions like, "should I go for the no-line bifocals or the ones with the definite line in them?" I also have to figure out how to deal with the sun while... My problems pale in the face of disaster

The ogre of aloneness-gone-amuck is isolation. And I was feeling isolated earlier this week. I was watching the news of hurricane Katrina and wondering why a government-ordered, mandatory evacuation did not include contingency plans for evacuating those citizens without the means to evacuate... A new class is available to me - a class on professional development and setting up a personal practice. The timing is perfect for me. Today was the first class. There will be three more, one per month, for the next three months. The other six students are psychologists. It is similar to group... Sign in to see full entry.

Spiritual maturation brings new life

My leap into energy healing is an example of spiritual maturation over many years. As the new requirements of my spirit have emerged, the old activities of my life have died -- retired. Spiritual maturation, in my case, has nothing to do with going to church or participating in religion. It has to... Sign in to see full entry.

Is structure an example of mind over matter?

There is something to be said for structure in one's life. Apparently, I have been using the job as a crutch for providing structure in my life. I used to get up to go to work. Then I would do things like laundry so that I would have things to wear to work. Then I would go to bed so that I could get... Sign in to see full entry.

Surprisingly, retirement is an emotional roller coaster

For years (25 of them), I have been wanting to retire from corporate world. I have been excited about retiring. These last few months, I was expecting to work for another year -- but then the ups and downs began in earnest. Faster and faster, one day I plan to retire next year, the next day I plan... First week is survived with drama

The first week of retirement required a three-day trip to a nearby state for a family funeral. Then my dog, freshly home from the kennel, went missing for 4 hours. I was so glad to see her healthy on her return, that I could only welcome her back like the prodigal son -- and trash the lost dog... Sign in to see full entry.
