Dear people of Iraq: I'm sorry. So very sorry. Can you ever forgive us?

A brief comment last night on CNN by Paula Zahn was incredibly telling. She said that many Iraqi’s wanted the hanging of Saddam Hussein be be televised. She then mused as to whether the U.S. government would allow it. Yes, allow it. This brief segment from a news show which is broadcast internationally summarized the attitude of the U.S., which disgusts much of the world. Democrats To Reject Bolton -- Big Surprise

John Bolton you may recall, was a recess appointment by Bush, as he couldn't gain approval through Congress. In the UN he is seen as confrontational and NOT a concensus-builder. So tell me -- Why are Republicans pretending to be surprised, and aghast that Dems are ready to start fighting so soon after the elections? We've had an election, not a frontal lobotomy. New SecDef, But Bush Talking the Same Old Line

Some things never change. While it may appear as though Bush is truly aware of the sentiments of the voting public regarding Iraq, the statement of the proposed new Secretary of Defense, it will be a new SecDef, with the same bull-headed approach. They are still touting a "win" in Iraq, and nothing less will do. I feel about as satisfied as I do after punching one of those buttons at pedestian cross-walks: it may make you feel better at the time, but in reality it has nothing to do with when the...
