Storm, Power Outages, Stupid People And One Amazing Man

It was quite a weekend. We were all planning ot go to Nikki's and cheer her up this weekend but she got sick. So, given I was already at Lisa's Saturday night I just stayed there. We did the typical "torture your soldier" thing with rather errrr ummmm "suggestive" pics to our soldiers. Carl was a... Sign in to see full entry.

The Veteran's In My Life

Now that I have a few minutes to actually sit down and write, I thought I would share with you the Veteran's that make Veteran's Day so important to me. The first was my Grandfather. He was a tail gunner in a b-12 during WWII. He raised 6 children and buried both his beloved wife and eldest son... Sign in to see full entry.

Veteran's Day

Masky posted this to my my comment section and it's seems fitting for today, I will probably write something myself later but for now, this seems to cover it "It's the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It's the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of... Sign in to see full entry.

Mama Told Me There Would Be Days Like This

So around 7PM last night I made a fast escape from a house without power. While I have a small generator it doesn't do me a heck of alot of good with my furnace. So with the horrible news that it could be as late as Monday or so of next week before we had power again, I headed for Buck and Pam's.... Sign in to see full entry.

SPC Tim Brown

While he was not "technically" one of my own, he was still a soldier and that made him not only mine but one of our own to all American's. Tim was killed outside of a Humvee on November 4 in Iraq by a roadside bomb. I don't have all of the details but I met his Uncle back in August who was excited... Sign in to see full entry.

A Poem--Written With InkedFor LIfe

IFL did the larger part of the writing here. I offered up the idea and he took it and gave me something better than I could have imagined. Joe_Love, this is from your suggestion. She watches the news and paces the floor Praying today, won’t be the day, the knock comes to her door. She’s choking back... Sign in to see full entry.

Feeling Better And Catching Up

Thanks to everyone for their get well wishes. This flu certainly knocked me for a loop. But I am starting to feel human again. Nikki's grandfather passed away yesterday. I can't imagine what she is feeling. She is 8 months pregnant, the father is in Iraq and now this. An awful lot for an 18 year old... Sign in to see full entry.

Why I hate Flu Shots

Well I had my flu shot on Thursday and today I am sick. The only thing I want to do is curl up on the couch with my comforter and a cup of tea, I think that is exactly what I am going to do. This should pretty well cover all of the worriers around here until I am ready to to blog again. Sign in to see full entry.

Through The Eyes Of Love

I find it interesting the way Carl and I tend to see the other. Tonight Carl had his annual PT test (it's actually morning in Iraq right now). He was pretty nervous about because if he didn't pass it he won't be eligle for the promotion he is up for when they get home. He WANTS this rank more than I... Sign in to see full entry.
