Clinging to the Thread
It's sanity, insanity, time and no time. I am clinging to the edge of everything these days. My computer had to undergo therapy. Probably because it was under the mistaken impression that it is a tool for writing, when in fact it has turned into a tool for list making and children's game playing and...

Pre-Father's Day
No this is not a blog about guys who aren't fathers yet... this is a blog about Saturday, the day before Father's Day. I was up to my neck in things I needed to get done, and a reasonable sounding voice of my husband uttered a completely unreasonable question, “Can I go take a Pre-Father's Day nap?”...

An Update on My Grand Old Lady
My sweet old cat and I went to the vet last week on Friday. She was so gentle and sweet (until that one painful poke in her mouth... but who can blame her for that) We got her vaccinations updated and agreed that she is starting to fade. She's lost a couple of pounds, and wasn't that heavy to start...

More Rainy Day Blues
Yeah – it's still raining. The seedlings in the garden are getting crowded by the weeds, and I can't get out to weed in this downpour. Yesterday we made Monkey bread, and Father's day cards and gifts. It was a good day, but messy and Daddy was cranky about the mess when he came home. Frankly I'd...

Rainy Days and Mondays
(written yesterday... ) The weather has not been great here lately. Windy, cold, rainy. Sometimes one of each, sometimes all together. It has certainly made being the mom of two active girls challenging. I try to encourage them to venture out in the weather, but when the wind is so strong that it...

Suicide As PR!
although I rarely get into politics in this place (I usually come here to escape that stuff) I have to wonder if anyone else finds the claims of Colleen Graffy (the US foreign policy official) that the triple suicide at Guantanamo Bay was "a great PR move..." not only cold, but asinine? I wrote a...

Do We Struggle On Or Wait To Fight Another Day?
I am not feeling much like a writer these days. No one is reading my work and I am writing less to express my stories and imagination, and more for obligation or to get my name out there in some fashion. What I really need to do is focus on the writing that I want to do, instead of what I feel...

I Don't Know What to Hope For...
I made an appointment at the vet clinic for my cat. She is old, nearly twenty. I know that she is starting to fail, but I had hoped that that she would get one more summer to sleep in the grass and hide in daisies hunting spiders. I am going to the vet to get an opinion about how she is doing, and...

It Doesn't Look the Same, It Doesn't Read the Same Either
I've been away for a while. Dealing with my life, trying to write and trying to do the things I need to do so I can do more than exist. I'm feeling empty. There has been some trouble in various forms on the home front and I've been frustrated to discover that no one is reading me. Not my husband or...
